Publisher's summary

The subject of women in the church is both important and controversial. John MacArthur is not afraid of either. In this revised work, MacArthur examines what the Bible teaches in I Timothy 2:9-15. He discusses topics ranging from the attitude and appearance of women, to their role in and contribution to the church. God's High Calling for Women can be used alongside or apart from the audio series available from Grace to You in either a personal or group study.

Good

Helpful, filled with biblical references and honestly pretty uplifiting. The fact of the matter is that its not about agreeing with what the author is saying but for me its about learning more about my biblical role as a woman of God. (The book is free on audible!!! although be warned the narrator isnt the best lol)

The difference between the rolls of women in the Old Testament and the New.

I wasn’t sure about this book when I first started listening to it. I am not a feminist and do not aspire to be but there are some parts of this book that lead me to question if they are a patriotic views or God breathed. For this reason I am thinking of purchasing the book so that I can prayerfully read and study it in scripture.

Great work

I appreciate the historical breakdown of the topic of women as preachers. I am actually rather charismatic. My spirit never sat right with the dealings of women as preachers, and the wishy-washy approach many people take to justify us. MacArthur, however, put words to the things I’ve known deep down to be true. I did not go into this looking for someone to confirm my bias. I came to this looking for a thoroughly researched historical approach to the topic. The ending brought me to tears as it confirmed the workings I see God doing in my life.

Women not of this world but of God's kingdom

Thank you MacArthur! Once again through sound biblical teaching you so clearly articulate God's truths that one might apply both practically and holistically. I am so encouraged and inspired to grow as a godly woman each day after having read this resource and guide.

Biblical Truth

I appreciate MacArthur’s biblical wisdom. He always backs up his teaching with scripture. One can verify scripture and confirm what is truth.

Not my favorite

I believe every word in the Bible. Therefore I find the book truthful. However, I would love to have heard more about the value of the contributions made by women of the Bible.

Expository explanation ♥️

This was great! Very encouraging and helpful to me as a born again, yet immature, discontented, envious of male leadership with a history of male abuse in life, and therefore, an entitled divorced and childless woman in her 40s. The God of the Bible is a redeeming God and a loving God (the ONLY true and living God). Our understanding of His ways grow by His grace with our devotion to Him and obedience to His will. He will not leave us as orphans. But we must trust Him! I pray this reading (or listening) blesses you!!

Timeless

God does not change so it’s refreshing to read a book that reflects this truth.
