Acerca de esta escucha

When hometown horrors come back to haunt, friendship is salvation in a novel about childhood fears and buried secrets by #1 New York Times bestselling master of suspense Dean Koontz.

As kids, outcasts Rebecca, Bobby, Spencer, and Ernie were inseparable friends in the idyllic town of Maple Grove. Three left to pursue lofty dreams—and achieved them. Only Ernie never left. When he falls into a coma, his three amigos feel an urgent need to return home. Don’t they remember people lapsing into comas back then? And those people always awoke…didn’t they?

After two decades, not a lot has changed in Maple Grove, especially Ernie’s obnoxious, scary mother. But Rebecca, Bobby, and Spencer begin to remember a hulking, murderous figure and weirdness piled on mystery that they were made to forget. As Ernie sinks deeper into darkness, something strange awaits any friend who tries to save him.

For Rebecca, Bobby, and Spencer, time is running out to remember the terrors of the past in a perfect town where nothing is what it seems. For Maple Grove, it’s a chance to have the “four amigos,” as they once called themselves, back in its grasp.

Dean Koontz is definitely an award-winning writer. He totally deserves any awards he gets. His books are always awesome and always keep me enthralled throughout the entire story. This one was a little different, but still great. We love you, Dean.

I love Dean Koontz. All of his books resonate with me. Ignore the bad reviews. They don’t know what they’re talking about.

The humour and the likeable character characters

I loved the style in which it was read. Great story too! I enjoyed the funny wit and how it worked even during frantic and scary parts of the story

I love everything Dean Koontz…but not this one. I didn’t think much of the storyline and the author’s asides in the narrative which were probably meant to be amusing, were annoying and unnecessary. I really struggled to finish this book. ☹️

Not one of koontz’s best

I couldn't stand the mother, but if course that was by design. The characters were very well done, abd believable. The plot was just wow! Once again, another awesome book by Koontz. I have never found a koontz book I didn't like.

The Reveal Blew My Mind (in a good way)

I thought I’d read all of Dean Koontz’s novels. This was a wonderful audiobook.
Thanks Dean Koontz’s and Audible for this great discovery.

Not too long ago I rediscovered Dean Koontz’s stories and his unique writing style. When I saw the announcement for his latest book – Going Home in the Dark, I grabbed a copy of the eBook and the audiobook through Kindle Unlimited.

When I started listening to the story expertly narrated by BJ Harrison I was hooked. My plans to listen for an hour or so and take care of the days to-do list. Well, that plan went out the window. Sure, I kind of accomplished my tasks, but I couldn’t stop listening to the story.

Going Home in the Dark has very well-developed characters, all stuck in a situation that provides plenty of action to keep the reader off balance as the story progresses. Unputdownable is the best description for this story.

Awesome entertainment from Dean Koontz

This. like all of the Dean Koontz books I have thus far read, was exceptional. I love to read Dean Koontz books. They make me happy. Oh, sure, I get all riled up and scared with some of the situations his characters endure, and he comes up with some of the cruelest and most hideous bad things that go bump in the night. But, in the long run, he also manages to paint some of the most beautiful pictures of genuine good people who stand up to the evils of life, real or imaginary, that make the endings of the books I’ve read so beautiful. I cannot think of one book of his I have read that has not brought me to tears. I may just have a few uncomfortable nights after reading this one simply because I do believe there are those things that go bump in the night. But his books give me the courage and belief that good overcomes evil and that there are people in this world who will stand up against the bad guys. I have been on a kick lately and have not been on a Dean bing (as my friends call it) so this has been the first in a while. It was different. I did enjoy the author to reader explanations and comments and enjoyed that this was so much like a sit down with Mr. K and hearing this tale. I will say that I had to really pay attention to this to keep up with what was happening. I will attribute this mostly to a recent stroke that has me still having at times to keep up with what’s going on. Jumping between the past and current happenings required me to sometimes have to go back and confirm when things were happening in the now or in the past. Again, brain damage on my part and absence from my Koontz mania. And I kept looking for the beautiful golden to appear at some point., I must say that was something I did really miss in this. But the beautiful friendships described in this book among the four Amigos was wonderful. Such things are so beautiful and wondrous to me. I have had many friends, but none like described as the friendship among this group, To see how each of these four lived as children with the families they had, and that they found each other and held on to the friendships that they created, was a wonderful thing. Too much to go into about all the scary things and beautiful wonders that he has yet again managed to conjure up to take us into a world that keeps us coming back for more and more. I’m on my way from here to get back into my DK-mode and cringe a bit and cry a bit and love the K-man even more than I do now.. Thank you, Mr. K, for always making my heart sing.

The Genius and Heart of Dean Koontz

The story was more fantastical than serious. The characters were well written. This is not the “normal” type of DK book. The actor’s voice was mellow and soothing. It worked in this story.

A different kind of story

The narrator was spot on giving all the characters their individuality! I’ve read Koontz novels for many years and am never disappointed!

Wonderfully done!
