Story is good, but narrator was terrible. Almost didn’t continue listening because of the crappy narration.

Sharon Sala always writes well with good character development. Unfortunately, the narrator sounds just like Blanche Devereaux from the 'Golden Girls'... Which is fine, until the characters sound 65 as opposed to 29 years old. The cover of the sexy man is certainly not reflected in the voice. He sounds like an old man - The female character is far worse.
I kept having to remind myself that these were young folk. LOL. The pace is also too fast. I thought I'd speeded it up - when first listening to it. Sounds as if its narrated by an elderly school teacher - sweet - but elderly. Ruined the vision for a normally good read.

I've not written a review before, but I always enjoy Ms Sala's books. The narrator almost killed this one for me. Unfortunately she's also narrated the other two books in the series. Since it's a series, I will have to think hard before I decide how badly I want to know how it turns out.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

The story is very good, but the reader is terrible. I won't buy another book read by this same person. I really enjoy Sharon Sala's books, but I will be more careful next time.

What didn’t you like about Mary Kane’s performance?

She has an annoying intonation which detracts from the story line.

Yes, change the narrator; this one is awful. Why would you take the chance of using someone with no talent for story telling?

Narrator Ruined a Good Book

I think the story might have been ok. Not up to Sharon Sala's usual standards - but acceptable. The narrator however was so bad that it was hard to tell. Doesn't anyone work with these readers - or check to see how they sound once they've recorded something? The inflections were terrible - the characters all sounded the same - old and scratchy and the flow of the narration was totaly off balance. If the next book in the series is read by the same narrator, I won't be trying to listen to it.

her voice does not have any character to it had to tell which person she is in the story

I am a huge Sharon Sala fan, and I had no issues with the story or how it was written, I would recommend the e-book or paperback to anyone! I would NOT recommend the audible version as I could not stand the narrator
