Would you consider the audio edition of Grown Folks Business to be better than the print version?
Yes, because with this storyline, I'm not sure the print edition would have held my attention because as I tell all of my friends, many of these books really come to life because of the narrators. And Patricia R. Floyd is one of my favorite narrators; she always knows how to bring a story to life. And that is why I prefer audio over reading because I enjoy the performances. What was one of the most memorable moments of Grown Folks Business?
There were no areas that really moved me in anyway. I just felt that the book was interesting and held my attention because the way the author threaded the different situations together, made for an overall interesting story. I do not ever remember feeling bored or like I was ready for the book to end. I would recommend the book; did not feel like I wasted a credit.Have you listened to any of Patricia R. Floyd’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
Yes, I have listened to Patricia R. Floyd many times before and simply love her voice. She is an awesome performer. In fact, that is how I find other books because I look for books narrated by her. However, in this book, I could hear her swallowing and smacking her lips throughout the book as other individuals have stated. But, since I really enjoy her work, I barely noticed it as a distraction. Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
N/AAny additional comments?
It was a predictable story because whenever the main character loses something in a relationship, they always gain it back in another way. I also find it interesting that when other single women in the book can't seem to find and keep a man, her girlfriend that already has someone always seems to find a man that is ready to commit.I felt the author could have done a better job at the conclusion of the story. Also, character development was lacking. For instance, the character, Jet Jennings was mentioned throughout the book but I was never able to draw a clear picture of who he was. In many stories I have listened to in the past, I have found that some characters are developed so well, I felt I could actually reach out and touch them. In this book, I did not really feel like that.Sheridan and her son Christopher were the only ones in the book that I felt had a real presence because the author spent more time developing their characters based on how they responded to what was happening in the storyline.
Loved the interaction between the characters
