That's quite a road to have traveled. Thought provoking story and view of the world. I was enraptured. You absolutely have a gift for finding the most poinant emotion/ thread in every situation.
I am green with envy for your achedemic options. Ah the history. To your point though, dragons still need slaying and the innate pride in kindness, community and loyalty.
Thank you for being such a pillar of honor to (as Marianne Williamson so aptly put it) shine your light and in so doing, unconsciously give us all permission to do the same

The only reason that would cause so much revulsion and hatred of God's Chosen People and the land God chose for them lies in the realm of demonic powers. In the Bible it's clear that in the end times, the Jewish people would return to His land that He gave to them, Israel. God also said that He will judge harshly anyone who is against them. People need to wake up, cast the spirit of such caustic hatred away from themselves, repent and seek God's will. Any spirit of hatred, condemnation, mistreatment of others is not from God. Others include any human being whether you consider them to be friend or foe. We are instructed to love all people regardless of who they are and pray for them and leave any judgments to Him. I believe that time is very short, Jesus will return for His own in the air. If you don't believe in Him and if you don't strive daily to do His will and choose not to love and forgive anyone and everyone, you may just be left behind and have to experience the horrors that will occur here on earth during what is known as Jacob's Trouble aka the Tribulation. I pray that ALL of you will go with Him and us and never have to go through such horror and misery! I also pray that God blesses you and yours with His Love, Comfort and Peace forever.
