About this listen

The road to Hell is paved with good intentions.

Almost a decade ago, Prescott, an ex-special forces Green Beret, was boots on the ground in his new role with the FBI's Critical Incidence Response Group, searching for his childhood friend Kaylie after she disappeared from her research camp in Nigeria without a trace.

Now, the NSA thinks they've identified Kaylie's image in Syria. Prescott turns to Iniquus Puzzler, Lynx, to help him prove that the picture and the missing scientist are one and the same. If the NSA is right, this woman has days to live. The clock is ticking.

Lynx struggles to make progress finding Kaylie who may well be alive but is in a region where women are invisible behind their veils. Complicating the search, Lynx is fighting her own crisis. A psychic maelstrom thunders through her system. Her husband, Ranger Angel Sobado, killed by an IED two years ago, has gone to Hell and is begging Lynx to save him. Before she can marry Striker, she needs her husband to rest in peace.

Lynx Rocks!

Every minute of this series has been great! I’ve predicted a few things, but I’ve also been greatly surprised by others. There’s a strong balance among the elements of suspense in each of the stories, and Lynx’s development in each story was satisfying.

In Gulf Lynx, it’s interesting to start a couple of years out from where Lynx was in the previous book. You can see the ways she’s changed, but I loved how the author maintained her strongest traits throughout. I’ve read all the books in the series so far and plan to buy and read the next!

Douglas Sabattis

Wow such a great story. Love the surprise of Angel being alive. Now Lexi can move on to the man she loves who she is to be with. Bravery on both Stryker and Lexi to carry-on.

Absolutely loved it!

Loved this one! It pulled me in from beginning to end and had plenty of twists and turns as we see Lexi/Lynx dealing with her husband Angel (killed by an IED 2 years ago) haunting her dreams asking her to save him from hell. On top of that, she is pulled in to help FBI agent Prescott prove that a picture the NSA got is of the scientist Kaylie that disappeared from a research camp in Nigeria 10 years ago and is thought to be dead. Prescott knows her from childhood so it is definitely close to him as he was also on the critical response team 10 years ago. Now she is showing up potentially in Syria and things just get more complicated as they try and connect the dots and prove that she is there by running blood samples through a secret program and getting unexpected answers. Things start to collide all in the same area of Syria and Lynx is needed to go in, in person with the Strike Force team in order to connect with a female led resistance warrior group that will only work with a woman. This story was really well done and well thought out with how things develop and unfold. I was engaged and drawn in from beginning to end and loved the growth that we get to see with Lexi and Strike as well as the closeness that continues to come with the Strike Force team.
The narrator did a fantastic job with the story and really brought it to life.

Psychic suspense and "war"

This is a very good narration of a very good book. It does have a lot of psychic suspense which isn't my cup of tea, so I fast forwarded through a few pages here and there. But the characters are so well-written and lovable and the action scenes are great. There is a mostly happy ending which is necessary for me.

repetative

This is boring beyond description. Book 5. Well over 3.5 to 4.5 hours is nothing but a constant retelling of previous books. When its not neck deep, retelling the same story, we are treated to long monologues of Lexi's, inside her own head, worries, doubt, fears, and coulda, woulda, shoulda of's.
I don't mind bringing a new reader up to speed, but not at this level. Its just lazy writing, The author collecting a check, and not doing anything.

Striker doesn't show up until about hour 4. The rest of the team still absent with 4 hours left. Trapping me, the reader. in the head of a person like Lexi is not entertaining. No mystery or intrigue, no action, no relationship conflict....nothing but constantly re plowing the same field.

not as expected

As a fan of the series I was disappointed. not a great ending for Lynx. Was slow to start and lost my interest several times. Of course you must read to know the outcome for the characters you fell in love with in the previous booke

Didn't care for it, found it boring

You have to listen to a lot of stuff that is boring but it does tie in at the end. There is really not much to it until getting to the end. Just when it would start getting interesting the author would fill it with boring things. I really wanted this to be over and only listened to the rest because I wanted to see if what I thought would happen did and it did.

I thought the narrator did a great job from true emotions to character voices. There are no repeating of words, no volume changes and no background noise. I thought the normal voice was nice and did enjoy listening to her.
