About this listen

Seven members of one family are found murdered in their homes in the heart of Ohio farm country. No one saw. No one heard. Everyone has a theory and a motive.

With the ink still wet on her divorce decree, prosecutor Mara Brent catches the case that shocks the nation. Suspicion grows as the investigation gets underway pitting neighbor against neighbor. The press dubs the victims the Sutter Seven, and almost everyone in town has a finger to point. Were the Sutters victims or villains?

Mara hopes tensions will cool when an arrest is made and the trial unfolds. But it only opens up fragile fault lines and old family feuds that erupt in more violence. To make matters worse, Mara must face down her toughest courtroom adversary yet. The defendant has hired one of the country’s top defense lawyers and the woman who taught Mara everything she knows. Revelations at trial will test old alliances and uncover new enemies as Mara fights to restore order to her hometown.

Can Mara bring the killer to justice before the whole town implodes?

Hand of Justice is the electrifying third book in the Mara Brent legal-thriller series. If you like powerful women, rich mysteries, and shocking revelations, then you’ll love Robin James’s heart-pounding novel.

Another great stormy

Robyn James is an amazing story teller. This book is as great as all the others. I love the characters, suspense and the twist at the end.

Good Ending But

The characters are being developed quite nicely. I love Sam and I didn’t purchase book 4 so I’m going to have to go back and see how he does in his promotion to lieutenant. Of course what’s there not to love about the character Will and Cat. I purchased the whole series because I thought they’d be more drama with Jason, the husband and it’s turning out not to be the case. This book was a bit tame as a procedural for me, and they were so many characters at the first few chapters I almost gave up. Red herrings and not the best story. I felt I was listening to a hillbilly type story or background. Of course the ending gave credibility to the author as in a Charlie Doneleau ending
Were my comments of help?

A Good #3!

Story line was good, but I had a hard time sorting out all the characters. I may even listen again to try and get the connection of everybody. The narrator is excellent, as usual. I like the continuity of the same actor reading each book.

Narration Feedback

I thought the narrator did a great job, but I found it distracting when the narrator held her nose for the "nasal" character. It was too prevalent for when I listened through my headphones.

What a twist at the ending

This is a great series by Robin James, I sorry I waited so long to get to it on wish list. This book has a twisted that I did not see the twist coming at all, wow.. Just Wow.! Vivienne Leheny has done an excellent job as narrator for each of these books and this book (book 3 in the series) is no exception. Robin James should get more credit for her writing.

Author Robin James deserves more attention!

Former lawyer and judge Robin James writes outstanding legal thrillers. The Mara Brent series is about a prosecutor while her Cass Leary series is about a criminal defense attorney. Both series are outstanding but until HAND OF JUSTICE I preferred the Cass Leary series. This novel is outstanding.

Surprise ending.

The Narrator read with a bit too much drama in some places but still good performance.

Not the best story

I’m a Robin James fan, but this is not one of her better ones. The story seemed implausible.

Too many characters in this one

I’ve enjoyed the first two books in this series, but this one was really hard to follow. There was way too many characters to keep track off in this book and I kept wishing I had the actual book to refer back too. Also, it was really confusing because one of the characters was named Nicki and another was Mickey, so it sounds the same with the narration which also made it hard to follow.
