Publisher's summary

Frances wants to teach the popular girls a lesson: Anyone can be prom queen.

It’s risky. It probably won’t work, and she’ll need the help of her clever best friends and a shy girl with autism hiding a secret.

But when their plan works too well, Frances discovers popularity comes with a price. Jealous girlfriends, ruthless gossip queens, and fractured friendships are only the beginning. Add in her alcoholic mother’s feeble attempts at bonding and this scheme is a bonafide disaster.

Can she win the crown before the pressure becomes too great? And now that she's in the spotlight, will people even like the real Frances, including the one guy she was so sure she hated?

A Wonderful Story of Underdog Triumph

I enjoyed this story so very much! The main character is strong, flawed, and vulnerable as she throws herself into the limelight to champion the people at the bottom of the High School social hierarchy. I also enjoyed the author’s obvious care to create an authentic autistic character with her own voice and place in the story without being just an unimportant side character.
