About this listen

Within every community, toxic people can be found hiding in families, couples, companies, and places of worship. The cryptic nature of psychological abuse involves repetitious mind games played by one individual or a group of people. Psychological abuse leaves no bruises. There are no broken bones. There are no holes in the walls. The bruises, brokenness, and holes are held tightly within the target of the abuse.

Straightforward, helpful and comforting

Narrator brought the content to life. Pitch perfect.

This book focuses on the healing path of survivors of disordered personalities. It was a game changer for me. The author does not mince words, does not oversimplify the issues and at times calls out the mental health field for simply getting it wrong. It offers concrete suggestions for life on a healing path. I urge you to read this book. it is really worth itm

Never too late to listen

As a survivor who has been out of the relationship for over 4 years many parts of the book hit home. Being in an abusive marriage for 33 years there is a lot of emotional baggage that this book helped me understand. I have recommended my daughters to listen to this book. I think it will help them realize that the way they were treated growing up was not their fault that is was the fault of their toxic father. Everybody will have their own ways dealing with the toxic person but luckily my daughters were adults when I divorced their father and for our family no contact has been the only way we can survive.

helpful

This book will help you understand a psychopath. But for me most of all it helped me to understand that I cannot change a psychopath and I have to stop fighting for changes. She made clear that the cycle of love and pain from a psychopath is unending.

Could not put this book down

I just finished listening to this book. During my recovery, from narcissistic abuse, I’ve often questioned the difference between types of abuses, particularly psychological abuse. This book helped me to understand what psychological abuse is and put language to the abuse. Absolutely love this book and recommend it to anyone in any stage of recovery from someone with a personality disorder.

Eye opening because I didn't know this existed

The author goes through a very well described and explained walk through the life of a survivor. I am a new survivor and I needed this book to help understand what I did to deserve this abuse. When I got through the book, I realize it wasn't me at all but a man with narsasist personality disorder.

The narrator did a great job too. She took on the right empathetic and kind tones that I needed throughout this book.

I will most likely buy the hardcopy so I reference back to it as I need to.

I would highly recommend.

Life changing

I love this book, it truly helped me learn and realize what was going on in my life. I am so thankful I got out, and left. It took me a long time (married 13 years), but I did it. I am still damaged, and working on myself but each day is a step in the right direction.
