The Man - The Icon

There is no doubt that Henry Ford was one of the main cogs in the wheel that created a middle-class America! Eccentric to a fault, determined to succeed, he blazed a trail in America that is awe inspiring! Like most human beings on this planet we call Earth, Henry Ford had his own demons and faults. I prefer to admire what the man accomplished in his lifetime rather than dwell on any faults he may have had. Yes, he wasn't perfect, but then only 1 person in history has achieved perfection. So who am I to judge the man beyond his extraordinary life. Sadly, he was Anti-Semite, and for that I Pray that he found forgiveness before he left this earthly dominion. Good book that reminds us that people before our time influenced our future in ways we cannot fathom!

The importance of following your dream

Henry Ford was a man of vision and conviction. A man who in many ways was ahead of his time. He delved and embraced many areas of life and it's commitments and responsibilities. He believed in hard work, personal goals and gave an explicit road map for anyone of ambition to follow. He disavowed laziness and the tendency to lazy thinking. J.R. MacGregor book is more far reaching than just manufacturing cars on a volume basis; it delves into what a man should set forth as a general commitment to the entire approach to how one can lead a successful and honorable life. Must listen.

One Great Revolutionary

What a revolution there would be if people listen this and followed it. Did you know Henry Ford envisioned Ford owners being able to use their cars forever? That he considered his obligation to his customers a lifetime obligation? That he intended to upgrade his cars, rather than get his customers to have to buy a new one every so often? That he thought it the intelligent thing to do to pay his employees enough that they could afford to be his customers too?

Impressive life

What remained in my hea after listening this book are 2 ideas: give everyone a chance and if the dissapoint you, "fire" them and the fact that you can create social change by being 100% capitalist.

This book's as relevant today

This book's as relevant today as it was back then. There are tons of quotations I felt like sharing. J.R. MacGregor was much more of a genius than people gave Henry Ford credit for. I consider him to be on a par with Edison.

Wonderful Autobiography

This is a great short book for anyone interested in Ford, in business, in history. It feels just like spending about three weeks with Ford, visiting with him every day.Very enjoyable book. There is as much information packed into it . The chapters are concise, well-written. A very pleasant and thoughtful listen.

How Henry Ford created the working

Toyota clearly followed Henry Ford;s ideas and recognized him as the innovator.
Listening the early history of the auto industry with Ford's assessments should be required . The entire industry globally was about making racing vehicles. Ford saw the opportunity to go after the mass market but in careful steps to avoid need for financing. Each factory created the cash for the next much larger factory near Detroit. But he did not do that by making "cheap" cars, he did it by engineering the lighter and stronger vanadium steels he found from parts lying around the race tracks from a French racer. Then making just ONE model at a time with continuous improvements. 2, 4 and 6 cylinder models eventually..only in black but serviceable as evidenced by long life of Model A's for example.

Very good listen

Ford employs a lot of wisdom about his long career in the automobile industry as well as his vast reservoir of knowledge on other matters including management, business, as a service, even farming techniques.. one of the things I liked that he touched on was using corn as a fuel.. something which from what I’ve heard has a lot to do with prohibition and he corruption of oil companies historically.
