Publisher's summary

Tyler Cunningham enjoys living at the edge of uncharted and unknown territories. Never comfortable with traditional human relationships, he nevertheless makes his living meeting the needs of others through a combination of research and asking the unexpected questions. But this time, when the closest thing Tyler has to a friend goes missing as a result of those questions, he finds himself trapped and powerless in the face of a cruel and violent conspiracy.

Here Be Monsters takes listeners on an astonishing thrill ride through the Adirondack Park in Northern New York, the Northeast's last great wilderness, rushing headlong toward a shocking conclusion deep in the wilderness.

Wonderful Adirondack Mystery

This was my re-visit of Here be Monsters having read it when it was first published. I am not usually one to re-read a book so I was curious as to how it would be to hear a book I had already read. The only difference was that while the reader did a great job , the "voice" was not the same as what I "heard" when I read it. That actually made the book "new" for me. I love the book, the characters, the story and the Adirondack setting. I highly recommend this book.

Creative mysteries with a twist of wit.

I'm entranced by the beauty of New York's Adirondacks and by a well written mystery. Having read all of Jamie Sheffield's extremely well written mysteries - with a central character unique to this genre - i was interested to find out whether Here Be Monsters could be enhanced in audio format. It certainly can be. I highly recommend that you first read and then listen to Here Be Monsters. This is Jamie's first full length mystery. The Audible reader is the personification of Tyler Cunningham, no question about it. You are swept into Tyler's world, to his unemotional logic and to his dry wit. Sit back and enjoy the ride. A fun Adirondack Mystery

Where does Here Be Monsters rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I enjoyed the story and the narration very much.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Tyler was/is my favorite character, because I feel as though I can identify with him.

What about Michael Pauley’s performance did you like?

I greatly enjoyed the way Mr. Pauley inhabited the characters and the story.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The two scenes that come to mind are in the one in Tahawus and the final scene between Tyler and George.

Any additional comments?

Overall very enjoyable, and I look forward to more audiobook versions of the Tyler Cunningham stories.

Informative and intriguing

Michael Pauley's narrative gave a keen insight and depth into a hero who is complex in his quirks as he is with his precision to details and time. Interesting read.
