Publisher's summary

Fractions of seconds can do lots of damage. One decision can ruin lives. A blink can be tragic. And loving a Hollister…can hurt like hell.

I would know.

They say the average person can hold their breath under water for two full minutes when pushed to the extremes. Will Hollister has been holding his for years. The oldest of two elite swimming brothers, Will was always a dominant force in the water. But in life, he preferred to let his younger brother Evan be the one to shine.

Evan got the girl, and Will…he got to bury all of the secrets. A brother’s burden, the weight of it all nearly left him to drown.

The daughter of two Olympians, my path was set the day my fingertips first touched water. My future was as crystal clear as the lane I dominated in the pool - swim hard, win big, love a Hollister.

My life with Evan burned bright. He gave me arms to come home to, and a smile that fooled the world into believing everything was perfect. But it was Will who pushed me. Will…who really knew me.

And when all of the pieces fell, it was Will who started to pick them up.

In the end, the only thing that matters are those few precious seconds - and what we decide to do while we still have them in our grasp.

Heartwarming

This is a heart wrenching story that follows two characters that were meant to be together from the beginning except for the brother of Will. With His death Will took responsibility of Evan’s mistakes and denied himself happiness yet again. When they finally come together they are able to live again and find live and happiness.
This story is beautifully told and the narrators are wonderful!

Exceptional book of triumph

This is the first book I have read by Ginger Scott. This is a book full of hope, loss, grief, heartache, survival, friendship, triumph, and love. Ms Scott is a master of character development. She takes into the lives of two friends that are affected by the same tragic accident. Will takes downward spiral for awhile, while Maddy trains harder in her quest to become an Olympian swimmer. When Will returns to swimming, so many secrets come to light. There are also more obstacles that they have to face. This book is definitely an emotional rollercoaster. There are steamy sex scenes but they are filled with love.

I won a copy of this Audible book, and I said I would write a review. Wen and Kai are excellent narrators so I knew I would enjoy listening to this book. Their voices made this exceptional book even better. I highly recommend this Audible book.

Inspiring and Heartfelt Second Chance Romance

Overall 4.5 stars
Performance 5 stars
Story 4 stars

This was such a heartbreaking and uplifting listen. Kai Kennicott and Wen Ross really capture all the regret, sorrow, triumph, and joy in this one. Both gave such poignant performances that will have listeners hanging on every word. Wen Ross especially shined as Will, bringing listeners along for all the heartache and longing. Maddy and Will have known each other since childhood and though swimming introduced them, it was tragedy that irrevocably intertwined them. Their joy is coupled with deep sadness and I struggled right along side them as they faced the brutal truths of the past and met the present head on. I was definitely surprised by the twist and it gave me a much greater understanding of Will and everything he has struggled and continues to battle. I loved how these two found their way back to each other and I couldn't help but root for them (both as a couple and in their swim meets). I read/listen to a lot of sports romances, but this is the first time encountering one set in the swimming world and it was really refreshing. This is not an easy listen and deals with some very emotional issues, but at its heart, it is an inspiring and heartfelt second chance romance.

Loved it!

This was my first Ginger Scott's book. This is a wonderful friends to lovers, and second chance to love story, beautifully written. The characters are well developed. I love Will and Maddy's story. This is a rollercoaster of emotions. The storyline is filled with secret, so much love, heartbreaking scenes, and heartwarming moments. Hold my Breath couldn't have a better title than that. I totally recommend this story. The duet narration is perfect. Kai Kennicott and Wen Ross have done an emotional and an exceptional interpretation. I really enjoyed my listening. I received this free review copy audiobook at my request and I have voluntarily left this review.

One last Breath

I truly enjoyed this story from beginning to end. Friends to lovers. Their second chances. Their happily ever after. Will and Maddie's story was sweet with a little bit of heart break. I love how she accepted Dylan. Will had a great uncle who showered him with love and the hard truth. Will came out of the ashes with a few scars and still had the ability to love and be loved. Great story.

Well done

This is one of Kai & Wen's best narrations to date.. They took a good story and made it superb with their attention to detail and flow. Ginger Scott is new to my author list and I was impressed with her style. I'll be reading more of her.

My Two Pennies

This story is filled with heartbreak and romance throughout. Maddy comes from a family of metal winning swimmers and she’s setting herself to follow their path. Will has kept his feelings for his brothers girlfriend a secret for years as well as other stories that would break Maddy’s heart. The storyline is strong and I’ve enjoyed that although it’s wrapped around the swimming life and what it takes to make it to finals and try and get first place, there’s so much more then that. Will has a heart that is so big and what he’s willing to take on by himself is admirable. Wonderful story and I adored these characters.

What a gorgeous listen!

With two lovely leading characters, a sweet, poignant story about people who care, and love, deeply, Hold my Breathe is a story that I have thoroughly enjoyed. I know little about competitive swimming, bit this was irrelevant in this deeply human story. Will and Maddy are brought beautifully to full life by the wonderful pairing of Kai Kennicot and Wen Ross. They seem to just get better and better, and succeed in bringing duet narrstion to greater heights, with each audio I listen to. Highly recommended xx

Emotional & beautiful story with amazing narrators

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Kai Kennitcott and Wen Ross are my killer duo when it comes to the audiobooks I listen to. They are amazing. Whenever I am blessed with them both in one book it is a treat. You will never be disappointed when listening to these two narrate. They have such amazing voices and I love the way they bring both the story and the characters to life. I highly recommend listening to this audiobook for the narrators alone, plus this was a wonderful story that I really loved by the author.

This was an excellent read. Right off I could feel the heavy emotions of Will and Maddy. The connection between them carried a lot of feelings, but I loved the way they worked through all of them. Maddy was wonderful. Even through all her grief over losing Evan, she still opened up her heart to Will and helped to heal him. I loved seeing snippets of memories they had swimming together and Will's secrets regarding his brother Evan. Will carried such a heavy weight with him caring for everyone and leaving nothing left for himself. I just fell so hard for these characters. It is an emotional rollercoaster, but damn if I didn't love every moment spent reading this book.

Ginger Scott writes such a beautiful story of loss, family, and love. You can't help loving this book. I felt every emotion Will and Maddy went through while reading. I felt it slowly lift with every page. Maddy was such a strong character and she helped to lift the burdens Will carried around. Add in their fight, drive, and determination in the water, and I was done for. Hold My Breath is a brilliant book.
