About this listen

The well-meaning and meddlesome Mr. and Mrs. Aden want nothing more than to protect their only daughter, Hannah. After her childhood kidnapping in Somalia and a final showdown in Italy against the monster responsible, 19-year-old Hannah just wants back the life stolen from her.

She isn’t naïve like her mother believes. Frequent flashes of past terrors assure her that the healing process is far from over. At the same time, she’d hardly use her dad’s words and call herself "strong" or "brave". That description belongs to Melissa Bennett, the woman who almost died saving her.

Melissa doesn’t feel much like the hero she’s being hailed. While she is glad to have saved a life for once, the one she’d almost taken continues to haunt her dreams and stall her recovery. Despite her good deed and continuous help from friends and family abroad, and Kyle—the father of her little girl—she knows her days of freedom are numbered.

Not a stand-alone

I chose to read this book after receiving a free audio copy from the author. All opinions in this review are my own and completely unbiased.

This is not a stand-alone book and since I didn’t read the first three books, I was quite lost. It sounds like there was a lot of action and suspense in the previous novels because Hannah was kidnapped at some point and rescued by Melissa.

Although I couldn’t really get into Hollow Fissure, I do like the author’s writing style except for all the talking during the sex scene. I also like the use of two narrators, male and female. That always makes audiobooks seem more realistic.

If I get the time, I’d like to read the first three books in this series and then read (listen to) this one again. I think that would make a big difference.

Not a stand alone

Would you try another book from Max E. Stone and/or Noah Michael Levine and Erin deWard ?

No, I don't read this genre usually.

Has Hollow Fissure: Warren/Bennett/Johnson: New England, Book 4 turned you off from other books in this genre?

No, I didn't like this genre to start with.

What didn’t you like about Noah Michael Levine and Erin deWard ’s performance?

The grunts, groans and growls of ecstasy were a bit much. He sounded like a robot much of the times (especially the first half of the book).

What character would you cut from Hollow Fissure: Warren/Bennett/Johnson: New England, Book 4?

All of them. There were too many for me to understand what was happening when I didn't read Book 1-3.
