About this listen
To escape gossip about her disastrous engagement, Sarah Miller flees to Wylder, Wyoming, where her aunt owns a dress shop. But the danger she discovers in the wild west has her ready to board the next stagecoach out of town.
Daniel Taylor rescues a damsel in distress, only to fall in love with her at first sight. The past has taught him that gentlewomen don't make Wylder their home. He intends to court Sarah, but braces himself for a broken heart, knowing she will eventually leave town.
When Sarah is forced to face down the men who have tormented her since her arrival in Wylder, she will have to make the most difficult decision of her life.

Story
A pretty, single woman in the Old West where there is a shortage of women would surely cause heads to turn, as well as garner some serious suitors. As soon as Marissa steps off the stage, every man in Hunter’s Grove is mesmerized. Three likely suitors are bold enough to throw their hats in the ring for her attention: Cole, her aunt’s attorney, Alan, her farmer neighbor, and Nash, a neighboring sheep-ranch owner. Since her aunt left an unusual stipulation to her will, Marissa finds herself forced to choose one of them to marry.

Story
As if he doesn't have enough to handle between running outlaws out of Cheyenne, keeping his brothers out of trouble, and avenging his father's death, Sheriff Sawyer McCade's meddling mother just dumped a mysterious mail-order bride on his doorstep. One woman can be more trouble than a band of renegades, and while this one has him all stirred up, he'd rather get to the bottom of the story she isn't telling. Rose Parker had it all - until a web of danger and deceit sends her running to Cheyenne posing as a mail-order bride. Escaping the evils of New York seems sensible until she meets the unsuspecting sheriff who didn't ask for her, has no intention of marrying her, and won't rest until he uncovers her secret and sends her back home.

I previously read this story but listening was fantastic. Rarely does a voice fit a story to perfection and this is one you'll want to listen to again and again!! Jane Lewis hasn't been in the Wyld West for long but she sure knows how to write a good one. kudos!!!

Such a brilliant performance!
Summary –
What had she been thinking? All Sarah Miller wants to do is escape the gossip hounds in her hometown after her engagement went terribly wrong. So, she packs a bag and heads west to Wylder, Wyoming to stay with her aunt. She hasn’t been in Wylder long before she’s attacked by two ruffians. If it hadn’t been for handsome Daniel Taylor… she shutters to think what might have happened. This is the wild west and Sarah is petrified. When Daniel starts courting her, her heart is conflicted. Should she go home and leave Wylder, or should she follow her heart which whispers she’s home in Wylder?
Narrator’s overall voice –
Dawson McBride’s voice is full-bodied with depth and character. Whether he’s narrating in Sarah’s voice or Daniel’s voice, he brings the characters' thoughts and feelings to life. The tenor of Dawson’s voice makes for an incredible listening experience. Such a brilliant performance.
Does the narrator fit the characters?
Yes, Dawson McBride fits the characters perfectly. I closed my eyes while listening and imagined him in the old west with his cowboy hat slung low over his eyes.
Narrator’s reading style –
The reading style is nice and slow with a smooth baritone voice. He pauses when the story needs it and picks up speed during some intense scenes. He innately knows how to pull the listener into the story. I could listen to this over and over and never be bored.
Narrator’s impact on reading experience –
It’s all about the partnership between Dawson McBride and Jane Lewis. Jane Lewis is a brilliant writer who writes with passion and Dawson brings that story to life through his performance.
Narrator’s pacing –
The pacing is perfect with just the right amount of dramatic flair.
Audiobook flow –
The flow of this audiobook is so impressive. As someone who has listened to her fair share of audiobooks, this audiobook listens like a professional theatre production.
What makes this audiobook unique –
This audiobook reminds me of everything I love about old west movies but in listening format. The story and the narration will transport you.
Would I recommend this audiobook –
YES! This is one of the best audiobooks I’ve heard in a long time. So, so good!

Fantastic and exciting Audible book!
For me this is one Audible books that I wanted to see how the author would bring the story to it's conclusion, but I didn't want it to end! Jane Lewis has a wonderful ability to bring the sights, smells, and characters to life without going overboard and boring the listener. You get a real sense of what it was like in an old west town. Sarah is a southern belle who has no idea what dangers await her. Her family is well off so she has never worked a day in her life, but we quickly learn that she isn't a spoiled young lady. It's amazing to see how the author develops this strong lady into an even stronger one. Daniel is every women's dream come true. Theirs is a true love story that includes some passionate love scenes that will have the listener swooning.. We also get to revisit characters from previous Wylder stories. Several characters I would love to see get their own love stories. Hint hint, Callum and Leonna need spouses.
Dawson McBride once again gives an outstanding performance. His smooth, deep, and easy paced voice is a treasure to listen to and enjoy. We even get to hear him do a foreign accent. I highly recommend this Audible book for your listening pleasure. Wish I could give it more than 5 stars.

Love visiting Wylder!
There is nothing better than being taken back to the old west. No technology like today, but the gossip mill is just as strong. Sarah Miller has found this out in her home town and as a result, her parents sent her to Wylder to stay with her aunt until the gossip died down. Not used to having to do things for herself, she is learns exactly what it is to become self sufficient. Daniel, a horse breeder has taken a liking to the beautiful woman, and now with her in his heart is not sure he will be able to let her return to her previous life. Will she go back? Will the danger of the west keep her from staying? Will her love of her new life and Daniel keep her in Wylder? Jane Lewis grabs hold of your imagination and takes you back to that time with beautiful imagery. I love the characters! Sarah is quite the women when she arrives, but I love how her aunt gives her the ability to learn and grow. Daniel is wonderful. Forever loyal and protective, he loves with his whole heart and will do what needs to be done to keep her safe and his. It's a coming of age and independence for Sarah and realizing exactly what life has to offer. And it's fun to see some of the other characters we have gotten to know and love in Wylder!
Brought to life by the amazing Dawson McBride, we get to experience the story with the perfect narrator. He can take me back in time so easily with his easy pace and smooth voice. It's always a pleasure to hear him and can't wait to see what else will happen in Wylder!
