“[Adriana Trigiani is] one of the reigning queens of women’s fiction.”—USA Today

Nestled in the lush Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia, the town of Big Stone Gap has been home for Ave Maria Mulligan MacChesney and her beloved family and friends for generations. But with her daughter, Etta, having flown the nest to enchanting Italy, Ave Maria has reached a turning point, and she realizes that it’s time to go in search of brand-new dreams. Yet before she can put her foot on the path, her life is turned upside down.

Ave Maria agrees to helm the town musical, a hilarious reunion of local talent past and present. A lifelong friendship collapses when a mysterious stranger comes to town and reveals a long-buried secret. An unexpected health crisis threatens her family. An old heartthrob reappears, challenging her marriage. An opportunistic coal company threatens to undermine the town’s way of life and the mountain landscape Ave Maria has treasured since she was a girl. Now she has no choice but to reinvent her world, her life, and herself, whether she wants to or not.

Abridged version disappointmrmt

I'm happy on one hand that there is an audio recording of the 4th book in the Big Stone Gap series that is narrated by the author, who narrated the first three and gives the best southern mountain girl twang that suits the characters. However, I am bummed that the author narrated version seems to be an abridged version at approx 5 hrs. I wanted to have more listening time with the author narrated version, so why not record the full unabridged version by the narrator in the first place? Not sure why the unabridged 9hr version had a different narrator in the end. I'm tempted to buy the 9hr version but might leave it since I know the end of the story now. I was expecting something else with the storyline and end result but happy to see there was a 4th book in the end.

AWESOME

Adriana Trigiani has Southwest Va down to a art.. I live near Big Stone Gap and know this area really well... I can envision the areas she is depicting with such clarity.
Even when she talks about Europe it all becomes clear in my mind... like you are actually there.

This is a Must read... I loved it and waiting for more in the BSG series.

Too Short

Great story but not much of it. This was one of the SHORTEST books I have ever listed to. Everything else was great.

Author Should Narrate the Entire Series

Is there anything you would change about this book?

Specifically the auidobook, I bought the 4th book, Home to Big Stone Gap, in the abridged version mainly because I wanted to hear it narrated by the author, as the first three books were. It was a huge disappointment that the 4th book chose a different narrator for the unabridged version.

Have you listened to any of Adriana Trigiani’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I specifically bought the abridged version of this 4th book in the series, because I loved hearing Adriana Trigiani's narration throughout the whole series. Unfortunately, the author did not narrate the 4th unabridged version.

Could you see Home to Big Stone Gap being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

I saw Adriana Trigani in an interview promoting the movie, which is what led me to the books, so when I hear her voice reading the books, Ave Maria is Adriana Trigani in my head, but I am dying to see the movie!

Any additional comments?

Please have the author record the 4th volume unabridged!!!!
