Publisher's summary

Reunited with estranged husband and undercover cop Phil Broker, Nina Pryce takes an extended medical leave from the army to recover from the injuries - physical and psychological - she sustained at the hands of a vicious psychopath. The Broker/Pryce household relocates to a remote resort town of Glacier Falls, MN, where daughter Kit is enrolled in second grade at the local elementary school. Everyone assumes that Kit is adjusting well - until she punches Terry Clump, the terror of the second grade, in the face. He gets a bloody nose and she gets suspended. What begins as a seemingly minor spat between innocent kids quickly escalates into a vicious scenario of lawlessness and provocation. Kit's imitation of her parents' violent proclivities has put them all in harm's way: the Clumps are but one-half of a notoriously vengeful "clan" known for criminal behavior and brutal violence.

I was waiting for another Broker novel.

I don't know where this was or how I missed it. I'd love to see another one. I believe Chuck is a friend of John Sandford. If you like Sandford's work you'll like Chuck Hogan just as much. They are not the same. That would be unfair to both of them...but close enough that I am hoping for more of anything from Chuck Logan. Broker would be nice but anything. And Joe Barrett is perfect as usual.

Love Audible sales!

This is a book I've had in my wish list for a very long time. When Audible had a recent sale I finally decided to buy it. I am very happy that I did! I was hesitant to purchase the previous books in the series but because this is narrated by Joe Barrett (who I adore and wish he would do more in the mystery genre) I decided to buy it.
Anyway, this book is an example of why parents should keep a level head if they must involve themselves in their children's disputes. Especially if two are Cracker Jack law enforcement and the other two are criminals, and not very good at that either.
This is part of a series but the author fills in the blanks so you should not feel like you don't know what's going on.
Very entertaining and HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Immoral Evil in Fargo

I am on ch 36 and struggling to stay with this story. Must like film Fargo and the Minnesota accents with film Get Shorty splashed in! I do not,But reviewer Shelly ,my favorite ,said she liked the book and she had a couple of sentences that made me be cautious so we will see if I will finish this work. I purchased because l thought this was about a kick butt couple fighting for justice. Instead think recovery mode.
I too love Joe Barrett’s work especially in Brian Haig the Sean Drummond series, outstanding. Which is why I’ve been putting up with these peculiar authors hoping to find another series like Brian Haig. So far not working and I may just give up. Mike Lawson Joe DeMarco series is OK and I’m having to rely on that to get my Joe Barrett fix.
