In "Funny Valentines" a "simple" woman draws one heart on Valentine’s Day and divides it among the people she loves, until all but one of them lies in the cemetery. "Living" portrays a man in midlife crisis who leaves his loving wife and pleasant country home for a taste of high city living and returns with a new perspective on life. "Spooks" is the tongue-in-cheek tale of a man who masquerades as a ghost in order to outsmart an unscrupulous suitor and win the heart of a vulnerable widow.

Sometimes sad, sometimes funny, and always touching, J. California Cooper’s characters enlighten us and enrich us as they find love in unlikely places. The warm narrations will give listeners a sense of chatting with nosy but well-meaning neighbors over the back fence.

The author is brilliant in articulating and capturing the essence and absurdness with a bit of humor mixed in of what lies in the heart, mind, and character of some folks.

I am an AVID J. California Cooper fan!! When she passed away a few years ago I felt like I lost another Auntie. I have bought her books in multiple sets for friends, soldiers, and family members to share her gift of storytelling and wisdom only obtained by living, learning, and loving. I would love to narrate her books also, but those that did on this one did a fine job. So thank you all!!

The narrator is alright on a scale of 1-10. I would give them an 7 being 10 is the nighest

Yes the chapter about the watchers.

I really enjoyed listening to Home made love through Audible books I wish there were more books by J California Cooper in Audible book form .

She is my favorite writer. I always get lost in her books. I love how her endings are often unexpected. The best person doesn't always end up on top, which is realistic and that's what I enjoy.
