One of the best self-improvement books, ever.

I read 1-2 self-improvement books every month and Sierra's, "How Change Really Happens" cuts to the heart of what is really going on inside my mind and heart. She provides an understanding and the toolkit to support me through feeling frustrated and stuck. I've listened to Chapter 6 and thought about it regularly since. Sierra seamlessly weaves together neuroscience, psychology and real life shit into a poetic and concise book that is strikes a chord in the best way possible.

Excellent

With precision, the author creaks open limiting narratives that often shut us down and derail us. I found this book a step above other books of similar content. . There is great compassion in Sierra's writing.--she provides very clear steps that draw us toward energizing the most important relationship-ourselves. Overall, I found this book to hold great wisdom, endeavoring through precise instruction to unknot the tangled thinking that leaves us stuck and defeated. The workbook is fabulous—such a helpful map. Thank you.

An inspiration for Embracing Change

I wish I would have read this book earlier in my life. Now I truly understand the beauty of change and why I should embrace, explore, and welcome it instead of fighting it. This book is practical and concise, giving tools to work through the difficulties of life. It was the perfect book for me to read during the pandemic. I highly recommend this book!

An inspiring + soothing listen

Full disclosure: Sierra is an old (as in longstanding!) friend of mine. I was drawn to her a decade ago for the same centeredness and serene practicality she offers in this admirably concise book. As you settle in to read or listen, you'll feel safe and comfortable even though—delicious irony!—Sierra will be talking about leaning into discomfort in order to grow. You'll have the sense that you're with a friend who has been walking her talk for a long time and has distilled her lived experience into a sequence of actionable insights for her clients and readers. As someone who regularly reads self-help books, I can tell you that personal growth doesn't often feel this enjoyable!

A must-have companion for uncertain times

This book has propelled me into action. If you’re newer to personal development, this is a guide that will not force you into any place you’re not ready to go, rather guide you gracefully as you explore what change is all about.

It reminded that most effective self-development and change isn’t about overhauling your life overnight; it’s about the “micro shifts” as the author calls them, and about how to integrate them into your life in a way that’s sustainable. I can see myself coming back to this book periodically, as I think it can help me reorient if I ever feel like I’ve drifted off-course. This is critical for those of us who are committed to real, lasting change. Definitely download and use the workbook. Highly recommend.

A message worth listening and sharing

I met Sierra Melcher at one of her speaking engagements in Las Vegas and I was immediately hooked on her message and delivery of her story. At the time, I personally was going through some shifts and changes and her talk specifically was about experiencing "break down" to reach your "break through" which she talks more about in this book. I recommended this to my sister and several other friends going through their own changes and decisions or would make for a great meaningful gift.

This is considered a quick read and the way Sierra delivers her message feels like a conversation with a friend. There seems to be so many coaches and authors that share similar messages, so it was absolutely refreshing to be able to connect and relate as I listened.

I'll continue to recommend this audible and book and looking forward to future publications from Sierra.

Most succinct book on personal change I've read.

This is the best succinct book on personal change I've read. I've read quite a few and was impressed at how much was packed into 2 hours. With warmth, the author hits on the messiness of change while also providing tools for navigating it without over talking either topic. Lots of insight, wisdom, and tools packed into this short read.

The “heart to heart” you’ve been secretly yearning for

I just finished listening to this audiobook and am frankly amazed. It really felt like sitting down for a two-hour coffee in a cozy little shop with a trusted friend. As she explains how change really happens in a warm yet unflinchingly honest way, I gained numerous insights into false narratives, how I’ve gotten in my own way in pursuing my goals, and gained practical, very user-friendly tools to help me progress. Her analogies related to how change occurs in nature were both beautiful and extremely enlightening. Thank you, Sierra, for our wonderfully affirming “chat!”
