a good intro

I was given this free review copy audio book at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

This is a decent high-level overview of the stock market and how to go about making investments. That said, I wouldn't advise someone to jump right into investing all their savings right away thinking they have this on lock. If you've never attempted investing in the stock market on your own, I would seek a professional's help. It's not worth the risk of losing your life savings. There is a reason financial advisers are required to be licensed. Anyway, take that with a grain of salt and have a great day.

I still don't get it.

I received a free copy of this in exchange for an unbiased review. When it's all said and done I still don't get it. I think the book needed more examples for us lay people.

Solid Listen

I received a review copy of this audiobook.

While one or two of the passages were confusing to listen to rather than read due to high density of math, I feel this was an especially good financial audiobook. The information is well presented, and the narrator is pleasant to listen to.

Great Beginner's Guide to the Stock Market

This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review.
How the Stock Market Operates is a great introduction to the stock market. If you have never invested a dollar in the market but want to know why you might want to, how to start and some pitfalls to avoid you are in the right place. I am always slightly skeptical about books telling you how to invest your money, however the author does a great job of illustrating the risks and rewards of investing in stocks and bonds. He also helps raise red flags that can help you avoid potential scams.
Kirk Meyer is able to explain concepts that can seem complicated and overwhelming step by step in clear English using helpful analogies some simple examples. Even if you are an experienced investor, this makes for a great review.
Lisa Ware does an excellent job narrating the text in a friendly, helpful manner. She is pleasant to listen to – even when explaining terms that could be considered dry or a little abstract.
It’s short but packs a lot of information in an easy to digest book.

Very poorly written

This book is very sloppily written, with nonsensical or redundant statements throughout. It almost sounds like AI-written. The narrator is not much better.

The content is very basic and obvious, and yet still manages to be completely wrong at times: for example, the statement that stock prices have no patterns whatsoever and are just a random series of prices.

Don't waste your time and money on this book. There are far better resources. "Technical Analysis of the Financial Markets" or "Reminisces of a Stock Operator" are great places to start.
