Acerca de esta escucha

Rob didn't think of himself as anyone special, but when a pitch-black portal tried to wrap his best friend in chains, he stepped up without thinking and found himself ensnared instead.

His moment of heroism results in being torn away from everyone he knew and loved, kidnapped by an unknown force that leaves him with a note in his pocket stating: "Good luck."

After being thrown into the wilderness of Elatra, a hostile fantasy world ruled by levels, stats, progression, and bizarre video game logic, he finds himself entirely out of his depth. Armed with nothing but a sword and the clothes on his back, he sets out on his the first day, and almost dies. On the second day, he almost dies again. On the third, he began to notice a worrying trend. And almost dies.

It doesn't get any easier from there.

Overcoming the wilds is just the first step in his journey; the society of Elatra is incredibly hostile to humans, having just come off of a devastating war that left over half the population dead, and getting the locals to trust the last human in existence is a struggle in and of itself. Between being powerless in a world that hates him and suffering under a System that is altering his mind in unwanted ways, Rob quickly finds that monsters aren't nearly the biggest thing to worry about.

As far as LitRPG isekai adventures go, Rob drew the short straw in many ways. But that's okay - all the bullshit in the world won't keep him down. He'll carve out a place in this world with his bare hands if necessary. He'll survive, and then he'll thrive.

Whether anyone wants him to or not.

I got this first book on a whim thinking I'll return if it turns out lame. I was extremely surprised and well addicted to the book after getting into it awhile. This book series has a great plot with many sub-plot mysteries. I love that it all seems to be well thought out. I enjoy the mechanics of the system, the ups and downs with the MC as well as his relationship and social conflicts. This is probably going to be one of my top 10 favorite series assuming this continues and that eventually there is a conclusion (please don't let this be another series that gets abandoned - I have too many of those).

Does have an overpowered MC but he keeps getting thrown into situations over his head, so it balances out. No harem which is nice that I don't have to worry about my wife giving me side glances. There is some language, the f-bomb could probably be used less, but I'm happy to deal with that in light of the nice book.

I enjoy this narrator as well; he's done some of my other good books and it's nice to hear his voice again as well.

If you like He who Fights with Monsters, Defiance of the Fall, Beginning after the End, Ten Realms type series this one will be up your alley. Basically, guy gets pulled into game world, no freakin' clue what to do, tries to figure out how to survive, finds out whole world and the system hates him and he needs to get past that to stay alive.

Happy Listening!

Fantastic Series - great listen

Stop the reference humor it's not funny and it just makes you(the author) sound like a awkward teenager or old dude trying to be recognize as cool or hip, just stop especially in a world of fiction where no one knows what the MC even means. Like that's the equivalent of people having a conversation in front of you in a different language about you: which actually happened in the book and he gets upset about and do the same thing back by spouting dumb references. And stop the high five shite that's the lamest thing I've ever read in my life like come on. Then you got this guy saying "Gucci". Dude is like what? 20 years old in his 2nd year of college and acts like he's some philosopher and psychoanalyze people when he doesn't even know what he's talking about or has his shite together.
The thing I hate about books like these are when they write MCs that kill for the first time. He gets angry and acts like a puss when talking about killing people that will try to kill him but soon after arriving in the world he goes off to murder and butcher animals for no reason other than leveling up, he even mentions its giving him trash exp but continues to do it.
And this book is 60% inner Monologue, 20% stats and progression, 10% character development, and 10% pop culture references. I want to give this a 3 but I'll give it a 4 since it was actually enjoyable and I didn't have to put it down. Please do a dual narration or pick someone that fits and doesn't sound like he has a wife and 3 kids. MC is 20 and sounds like a war veteran. Pick better narrators

Good but has problems

Wow this narrator really killed it. Book is a solid 8/10, but the narrator makes it a 9/10.

Narrator

Good story, Character development was enough that you cared about them, very good narration. What more can you ask of a fictional story? :]

Has it all

I have burned through dozens of mediocre litrpg books and this is the best in a long time.

great book!

I loved it. This was an amazing first book and I already have the second download. If you are on the fence about it take the jump, I wish I had started this series earlier!

addicting

I love the book, it’s nice and entertaining, I just think it over uses profanities.

It’s amazing except for some writing.

A fun litrpg that covers more than pure wish fulfillment. This book covers things like genocide, mass world war, xenophobia. Which is great because it doesn't just get brushed aside or forgotten about like most books who seem to forget if it isn't convenient.

The only real issue I would say people would find is how the end starts to have a lot of the teams POV not just the MC and the eye rolling love interest. IDK just tired of the doe eyed MC forgiving the love interest but no one else and how she's the apple of my the prettiest girl trope.

Good story with no glaring issues

good story and narrater but way to much stats updatting would have been better to leave the updates to each chapter head

good listen but

I decided to listen to this book because I love the narrator. I was NOT disappointed (although I'm now binging the series and having difficulty disengaging. ha).

The main character is EVERYTHING a hero should be- real, fun/sarcastic, human, but also kind. I am tired of male heroes who are icky towards women- this guy is a fantastic role model for how men and women should interact with each other in a healthy way.

He isn't grossly overpowered and not everything is unicorn dust and fairy tales about the story- but he still gets some interesting skills and items that keep it from being boring.

I'd let my kids listen to this series- although there is some swearing (if that's something you don't like). I like that the characters are all well developed and overall GOOD role models. There is fighting but it's not super gory (I loved the Bad Guy/Good Guy series, but those have enough of an ick factor for battle moves that id second guess letting my kids listen yet).

I just finished book #2 and I'll definitely be finishing the series. It's among my favorites so far which include Bad Guys, Good Guys, and He who fights monsters.

Fantastic story and narration
