Publisher's summary

Jesse Sampson and her two younger sisters have lived a hard life on the streets of Seattle, Washington, for the past several years. Four years before, the Earth received its first visitors from space, causing mass fear. Alone in a world gone mad with just her sisters, Jesse has learned to use the darkness and the remains of the city to survive and keep what was left of her family alive. She has seen the savage side of human nature and finds they are not much different from the aliens who conquered the Earth.

The Trivators have taken control of the Earth to prevent the humans from destroying it in their fear. A world of warriors, they are sent out by the Alliance of Star Systems to seek out new worlds. Their mission is first contact. They are to establish communication with the leaders of the new worlds they find and bring them into the Alliance. Any resistance is to be quickly subdued to prevent unnecessary death of the inhabitants of the new worlds they find. Their payment comes from the success of their mission.

Hunter is what he is called. A hunter, one of the elite clans of the Trivators who seek out those who resist. His abilities to track, capture, and eliminate those who try to harm any warrior are renowned. He finds the tables turned when he becomes the one captured by a group of ruthless humans.

Hunter is shocked when a strange human female risks her life to help him escape only to disappear into the ruins of the city. He now has a new mission, finding the female who saved his life. He is determined to find her before she is damaged by others of her kind.

What he finds is a reward beyond comprehension to a Trivator warrior: a family. Can he convince Jesse that he can give her and her younger sisters a better life on his world? Or will fear keep her from accepting what he has to offer?

Great Short Story ~ Sexy and Sweet!

Sometimes, a short story is exactly what I need, and Hunter's Claim was the perfect fit. It ticked off everything I look for in a short romance.

* Steamy Romance - You bet!

* Decent plot with action - Oh, yeah! I love stories where both the hero, and heroin are strong characters! Jesse saves Hunter's life, and he comes to her and her sister rescue.... Plenty of action.

* Great Characters - A must! This short story characters were well development, and I loved getting a glimpse of all the different personalities as they are the main characters in the rest of the series. I'm invested in the characters, and there is no doubt I will be continuing this series.

But the absolute best thing I love, is getting a great story at a great price, and this is why I love Whispersync, and Kindle Unlimited. Because I bought the kindle edition and added the audio for $1.99, I got a great price, (well next to free), and with over 600 titles in my library, I love buying books at a great price.

Sweet, a little sexy, but a little boring

The narrator is great with both the female and male voices.

The romance is slowly at first, then all of a sudden love. That's fine except that the male character is one dimensional, you can predict exactly how he will respond based on the cheesiest romantic ideas women have about men. I almost think that the author is mocking romance readers (think the movie As Good As It Gets.)

Also, some of the situations that the young woman puts herself in are a bit far fetched.

All in all - meh...

Very much a sci-fi story, well written with interesting characters . Interesting aliens. Handsome and fierce of course. A good read. I recommend this book.

Ok story

The story was ok. It started off interesting with a little suspense and animosity between Hunter and Jesse. Once he found her the 2nd time the story got a little boring and disjointed. There was not a lot of depth to how Jesse fell irrevocably in love with Hunter, it just "happened". The rest was just a lets add some things tk try and make it mire more interesting, but it fell a little flat for me.

Ok, but not great

Good, but the voiceover was a bit uncomfortable in places and action stalled awkwardly sometimes.

S.E.Smith is a great writer. Love this series.

S.E.Smith and David Brenin are a magnificent pair. Her stories are always great. Full of details and emotion. David Brenin brings the stories to a new level. You see with his voice the characters come to life and make you feel every gasp of hope, cry of pain and loss, scream of rage, and every tear of love. I am a great fan of Smith's books and David's voice. You will not be disappointed and on the edge of your seat for the next book.
