Story
D-Day, June 6, 1944: the most expansive military endeavor in history. No less than world cooperation would bring down Hitler and the Axis powers. And so people - and kids - across the globe lent their part. From the young US soldiers in the boats to spies in the French countryside, the coordination of thousands came together. Alan Gratz, author of the New York Times best-selling Refugee, explores the necessity of teamwork and heroism in dismantling tyranny in this epic, yet personal, look at D-Day in time for the 75th anniversary of the operation.

Story
The city of Bulikov once wielded the powers of the gods to conquer the world, enslaving and brutalizing millions - until its divine protectors were killed. Now Bulikov has become just another colonial outpost of the world's new geopolitical power, but the surreal landscape of the city itself - first shaped, now shattered, by the thousands of miracles its guardians once worked upon it - stands as a constant, haunting reminder of its former supremacy. Into this broken city steps Shara Thivani.

Great narrator and excellent author. Love all of her books.
Wish she could also write a book about a child escaping death from a home country and the USA constitution used to save her life. a good way for kids to learn the safety laws of our constitution. They are amazing laws.

Why this is my favorite “I Survived” book… (SPOILER)
The reader used a cool, unique accent when the characters spoke. The book was filled with so much, very fun action and a touching, very historical storyline. Lauren Tarshis is incredible to pack both action and a storyline in such a way the two hours is not a waste of time. As a twelve-year old boy, I could relate to Paul, the eleven-year old main character, when he bought his mom cookies, or his quick thinking to throw a bomb when there was a Nazi general, basically everything he did, I would do. I would recommend this book to those who like fun action and a good-ending storyline.

Not terrible, but not my favorite!
My ten year olds enjoyed the fictional story in a historic setting. I believe the content is appropriate for their age group. I wish there were more historically accurate details to accompany the story. The story is developed as much as possible for the length.
