Publisher's summary

He'll have to turn up the heat in order to melt her heart....

Logan Slade made the biggest mistake of his life eight years ago when he left his high school sweetheart at the altar and reported to the military. Now he's returned home and ready to do whatever it takes to win her back. But Trixie Frost isn't the same starry-eyed girl who believed he could do no wrong. Now she's stronger, independent, and more fascinating than any other woman he's ever met. Trixie has spent the last eight years trying to forget Logan. She's devoted her life to the quirky town of North Pole, Alaska. She's in a good place, dating a nice man and ready to take the next step in their relationship until Logan walks into her bar and turns her life upside down again.

This sexy, determined, military version of Logan is a bigger threat to her than the boy she'd loved to distraction. She can't let him chip away the protective ice wall she's erected around her heart. Because she won't be able to put the pieces back a second time.

How do two crazy kids in love, become two crazy adults in love?

Trixie and Logan grew up together and fell in love. They made mistakes, he went into the service after they eloped, now it’s time to face it all.

Not my cup of tea, but spicy moments

I am honestly not sure how I feel about this book, it is set in North Pole, Alaska and is about a couple that have been married for EIGHT years and haven't seen each other since their wedding. I feel like this story was rushed and would not be a realistic situation. I also think that this doesn't paint the woman that is the female main character in a very good light, in the fact that she doesn't seem to have a strong will. I think that this book could have been better than what it turned out to be, I liked bits and pieces of of this audiobook. Having said that I would rate this book as a 2.5 out of 5 stars, the spicy scenes are explict and decent but the main storyline throws me off and I can't enjoy the scenes very well.

I would only recommend this book if you enjoy a book where the female lead is not a strong female lead.

I hope this helps you find your next Tantalizing Tome!

Where are the heroine's that have a backbone

The heroine in this story ruins it by misplacing her backbone. Talks about how strong she is but not when it comes to a guy that ghosted her for 8 years. Not believeable!

I can’t finish this book. Ugh.

I enjoyed the other books in the series. This book is like it’s written by a different author. Logan is controlling to the point of being almost abusive and creepy. The women in the other stories were strong and interesting. Trixie is weak and willing to be pushed around. Argh!! Also there are editing issues in this book. There was one section where there were sentences that were missing and other sentences that were repeated. I even double checked to make sure that I hadn’t accidentally advanced the audio. But it’s definitely an editing error. In general this book had many problems.

He has no excuse

For goodness sake. This isn’t a regency, where men entered into arranged marriages and could expect women to piously wait for eight years for them to return and claim their property.
He couldn’t write? Or call? Or give any good reason for abandoning her for years?

Worse, what kind of a doormat waits for him? She should have moved on in the first year.
The idea of her just passively mailing him annulment papers is ridiculous. If the author had made any attempt to research, she’d know that Trixie could have gotten her annulment without his permission.

The speed at which they get back together is aggravating. The kink they get to straight-away is cringey. There’s nothing to love about either character or this story. Nonetheless, if you are still considering this novella, know that it’s part of a four-novella collection that has better ones, like Bushwacked.

Icebreaker

Logan and Trixie
I think this might be my least favorite of all the book it wasn’t bad or anything just not my cup of tea.
For me the leaving for 8 year and coming back and expecting her to have been waiting for him didn’t sit well.
He should have reached out something it was just too odd and too long to be completely silent. I can see why she was so hurt, and the aunt and the mother’s reactions was justified in my eyes.
The ending was sweet, that really was the best part for me how he makes it right and in front of everyone was icing on the cake.
Again I really enjoyed the narration

Stupid woman accepting abuse

A man leaves for years, never sends her money even though legally married, and expects to be welcomed back like nothing happened. I couldn't finish listening as it was too much like the abuse stories I have heard from women in similar situations. NOT romance, just a jerk wanting to use a woman who he felt he owned.
