About this listen
Ichor Well is the third adventure in the Free-Wrench series of steampunk novels.
Ever since Nita Graus left her homeland and joined the crew of the Wind Breaker, the reputation of the airship and its crew has been growing. The destruction of the mighty dreadnought, the escape from the legendary Skykeep, and the inexplicable ability to remain hidden from the ever-watchful eye of the Fug Folk have combined to make her and her fellow crew the stuff of legend. Alas, legendary heroes cannot exist for long without attracting a worthy villain.
Luscious P. Alabaster strives to be just that foe. While he works his nefarious plans, the crew itself is not without turmoil. Captain Mack, already having survived far more years in the hostile skies than he had any right to expect, is making plans for his golden years. The crew is gradually learning all that Nita can teach them, leaving her with the looming decision of whether or not she still has a place among the crew.
Before the matter of the future can be settled, the crew has the problems at hand to solve. And in escaping the webs woven by the cunning and eccentric Alabaster, they may discover the darkest secrets the churning and toxic Fug has to hide.

Story
The islands of Caldera are a shining jewel in a rather bleak world. A terrible calamity in the past had blanketed much of the world with a toxic "fug". Those who survived were forced to take to the mountains and the skies in wondrous airships. Life has since been a struggle, with only the most ruthless and crafty able to survive. To spare themselves the same fate, the Calderans erected a battery of guns to fend off the airships of the mainland. They isolated themselves from the madness of the world, choosing instead to focus on the pursuits of art and creativity.

Frey is the captain of the Ketty Jay, leader of a small and highly dysfunctional band of layabouts. An inveterate womaniser and rogue, he and his gang make a living on the wrong side of the law, avoiding the heavily armed flying frigates of the Coalition Navy. With their trio of ragged fighter craft, they run contraband, rob airships, and generally make a nuisance of themselves. So a hot tip on a cargo freighter loaded with valuables seems like a great prospect for an easy heist and a fast buck. Until the heist goes wrong, and the freighter explodes.

Mars is supposed to be dead. Bizarre quakes are rumbling over the long-dormant tectonic plates of the planet, disrupting its trillion-dollar mining operations and driving scientists past the edges of theory and reason. However, when rocks shake off their ancient dust and begin to roll seemingly of their own volition carving canals as they converge to form a towering structure amid the ruddy terrain, Lt. Jain and her JSC team realize that their routine geological survey of a Martian cave system is anything but. The only clues they have stem from the emissions of a mysterious blue radiation, and a 300-year-old journal that is writing itself.

great escapism
I've enjoyed this entire series and look forward to the continuation of the storyline. What started off as a free book on my Kindle has made Joseph lallo one of my favorite authors and I have read and reread the various plot lines he's created in several world

Wonderful!
This review is for the first three in this series. The writing is extremely well done. Story arcs are well thought out and nothing is left hanging. I would have thoroughly enjoyed these books if I had read them in print. However, the choice of the VA that performed this was truly inspired. She did more than bring the story to life. She turned it into a movie in my head and in my ears.
TLDR; EXCELLENT book performed by an EXCELLENT VA.

Amazing!
So where to begin?? This book brings to life a truly amazing world. I loved the narration by Andrea Bates. The overall style and language of the book brings it to life in the readers imagination. I brought the whole series. It is worth it!

A great story marred by a horrible narrator
Narrator should not be doing audiobooks. She gets the voices wrong at times. I honestly wonder if she’s dyslexic. “Tirade” is not pronounced “TRiade.” This is just one of many examples where the narrator mispronounces words, or reads the wrong word entirely. So frustrating.

Utterly Thrilling
I absolutely love this book series. They have raised the bar for all future reviews. Never before have I enjoyed such a thrilling steampunk romp without so much drama, floridity, and romance. It's clean, it's fun, it's clever beyond words (ironic), and it's highly recommended.

These book were just ok for me
I enjoyed the concept quite a bit but the some of the main characters just lacked depth. I think the 3rd book was quite a bit better than the 2nd one. It was still an enjoyable way to kill sometime during my commutes
