This story is a jewel itself!

Loved it! I love the way that some details from book one were carried thru but without making you wonder what they're talking about or getting frustrated by repetition. (I truly dislike it when too big a portion of a book in a series is spent in the telling of the previous books!) I even enjoyed what was left to follow to book three! I can hardly wait until it's available....
I found this story delightful, slightly dark occasionally, and often funny. It's a regency romance mystery that I for one thoroughly enjoyed! From characters to story line, it was a good book!
Credit worthy? Heavens yes! But if you have not read the first book in this series yet then I emphatically encourage you to do so before reading (listening to) this one.

I'd give the narrator a 0 if I could..

Any additional comments?

I listened to the book for about 30 minutes before I was forced to give up. The voice she did for the hero was horrible, which is amazing since I gave her 5 stars on When You Give A Duke A Diamond. It's a shame, really. I gave it 3 stars on here because I want to be fair to the author. I'm going to READ the book and I'm sure it will be a 5 star book when I leave my review on Amazon. When a female narrator can't do a man's voice she shoudn't be a narrator. Just sayin'

Good..

It was good but the narration was off. The story was so good it was easy to overlook. Told with a different narrator and this would have been 10 stars.

Good Story...not so happy with the narrator.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would recommend reading this book over listening to it. It was a good story.

How could the performance have been better?

I HATED the annoying voice the narrator gave the male character. He's supposed to be this tough man with scars and stuff. But she made him sound like a big whiny ninny. If she had just gave him a better voice I would have enjoyed the performance much more.

Lucy Rivers excells -Galen falls off

While the narration in book one was marginal, Ms Rivers does an excellent job in book two.

I appreciate Ms Galen's acknowledgment of PTSD. I did not appreciate battle scenes interspersed in the love scenes. It left me a little ill.

Still, in all I liked the intrigue.

Overall story Ok, but MMC is a misogynistic

Since I like book 1 so much the disappointment in this couple in book 2, specifically the MMC... I really hated him. He was detestable from start to end. I guess I was supposed to feel sorry for his War PSTD but I just could not find anything to care for the lout. The FMC, though born of a lower class, always presents herself with class and grace. She is much too good for this creep. It was weird and ishy that she kept getting turned on while he verbally abused her. In my opinion, He has zero honor, and no respect for Fallon. He not only is always placing her in harms way, never giving a thought for safety but he actually physically injures her through his careless actions. Dude that's not love, yet she continues to let it slide even though he NEVER apologized. The biggest issue is there is no reason for is abhorrent behavior. Even if he thought she were a spy he treats her as less than the prostitute informants. He comes across as always seeing Fallon as less than the women of his class. Its frustrating that she thinks she deserves to be treated in this way. Sure we could play 'oh he's a royal attracted to her, a commoner, so he has to treat her like shite ... But here's the thing, I don't want to read about a man like this even if he miraculously redeems himself in the last 5 mins of the ending.
The narration was off too. The MMC voice was too feminine. I ÿ⅚ distinguish who was speaking. I wanted to stop reading 1/2 way through but I pressed on and finished. The narration was ok but Im not fond of the masculine voices she trys to do. I will.move on to book 3 and hope for the best there.
