About this listen

My wannabe friends-to-lovers story is an embarrassing disaster.

It all started when I took a chance on love and made a move on the older guy I’ve been obsessed with for years. I experienced something so humiliating, I’m desperate to bleach it from my brain forever.

I’ve spent every day since pretending it didn’t happen. That it didn’t matter. That it didn’t hurt.

Rocco Monroe came to live with my family when he was eighteen. His bedroom was across from mine. We were friends. He became the son my father never had.

When I tried to change our status, he shut me down. He said I was illicit … a forbidden drug formulated just for him.

And that’s saying something since he’s a DEA agent.

So I cut him out … severed all ties.

What I didn’t know was that while I was trying to forget him, he became addicted.

To me.

The moment he found an opening, he pushed his way back into my life.

But my shattered heart might not survive another break.

I have two choices.

Keep my orderly, Rocco-free life.

Or risk everything for the chance to have it all.

That is if our families don’t kill us first.

You know… figuratively.

And literally.

Smokin HOT Friends To ENEMIES To Lovers with a sloooow Burn!!

Jason Clarke and Rose Dioro absolutely SLAYED in Bynne Asher's ILLICIT! I loved Jason Clarke's tone of voice and his phrasing with Teagan made me the happiest in this series. Even during his moments of irritation, the calm in his character and voice came right on through and kept me settled.

Teagan is obviously in love with Rocco from the very beginning, and I love Rose's voice for her, they're just absolutely EXQUISITE! I love their meet (not) cute again, and how much Rocco has Teagan has shaking in her boots (and vice versa) when each of them is talking to Robicheaux.

The convos between Rocco and the guys, Rocco and Tim and Rocco and himself are absolutely masterfully written and HILARIOUS!

ILLICIT is an absolute gem and Rose and Jason are a treasure to listen to, I never tire of Brynne Asher's Audio Books!! I cannot wait for the next one!

Another thrilling and emotional ride

Illicit is another unputdownable book by Ms Asher. I’m sorry to see this series end, these people have crawled into my heart and I’m obsessed with them. I love the playful banter, the suspense keeping me on the edge of my seat, and the steam generated by Rocco and Teagan. Jason Clarke and Rose Dioro are perfect as the narrators giving a performance that kept me glued to my AirPods. Brynne Asher is a master storyteller who consistently captives me and surprises me with twists and turns, heartbreaking emotion, and of course, the support system of found family. A fantastic story!

My favorite of the series!!

Obsessed even more with this couple in audio! Illicit by Brynne Asher was an emotional, heart-stopping, saucy suspenseful ride that I couldn’t stop listening to! Rose Dioro and Jason Clarke perform this audiobook in addictive dual narration. This may be my favorite performance from them in this series, and let’s be honest…I’ve LOVED them all. Rose's soft, melodic voice captures Teagan’s inquisitive passions, conflicted emotions, and desires for Rocco brilliantly. Jason’s deep, rumbly timbre encompasses Rocco’s never ending resilience, protective nature, and love for Teagan making him super swoony. Plus, Jason gives us some Cajun accent in this one too! (Call me impressed!) Both narrators created the perfect amount of longing, tension, and HEAT between Teagan and Rocco. I just loved their performances so much!

Overall, I LOVED this book. If you are a fan of a hot protective DEA agent, a dedicated investigative journalist, going undercover, begging for kisses, college graduations, risky missions, a found family, secret romance, nosey loving agents, hilarious text banter, shower steam, close proximity, a jaw-dropping climax, and a HEA that leads to the best life ever, then you will love Teagan and Rocco’s story. I always look forward to more from Brynne Asher.

Jason & Rose blew me away

Jason Clarke & Rose Dioro knocked this whole series outta the part, but there was something about their narration of Illicit that blew me away! Their voices are the perfect compliment to each other & to the story.

I’m incredibly sad to see an end to the Agents, however this is Brynne Asher, so I know whatever she has in store for us next will be a brilliant work of art.

Rocco…can I just say…I LOVE HIM. I’m fairly certain I’ve claimed each and every MMC of BA’s, but I really mean it this time. He turned his life from lemons to lemonade and I’ve been waiting on the sidelines, rooting for his happily ever after since Possession. In Brynne Asher fashion, it didn’t come easy, but boy oh boy was it worth everything in the end.

Then there’s Teagan. Holy Moses! I wanna be her when I grow up. That’s all I’m gonna say on the subject. JUST LISTEN TO THE DANG BOOK!

There wasn’t anything I didn’t love about Illicit. From gun, to knives, to text conversations that have you cracking up, this book deserves 10 gold stars and then some.

Fantastic!

Wow! This story was amazing!!
I couldn’t wait for Rocco‘s book. I knew his story was going to be something special and it far exceeded my expectations.
Since we first met Rocco in Possession, he has overcome so much and matured into such an incredible guy. Teagan was absolutely perfect for him.
I absolutely loved their journey, I loved their story.
Brynne writes such amazing characters with so much depth. I absolutely love the banter between all the agents, and I love how hard their family loves.
Jason Clarke and Rose Diorio did an amazing job bringing these characters to life.
I wish I could give this more than 5 stars

Fantastic

OMG!! This book left me speechless! I absolutely loved and devoured it! I am sad it’s the last book of the Agents! I have loved Rocco since he showed up in Brax’s book. I am so glad to finally get his book! Teagan is awesome and such a fearless person! Her and Rocco are perfect for each other. Seriously, you won’t be disappointed! Each book Brynne writes just get better and better. Jason Clarke and Rose Dior’s was absolutely perfect for the voices of Rocco and Teagan.

I didn’t want it to end

Top tier narration. Seriously, I hated having to adult and not listen to this incredible audiobook.

I guess the saying that the best is saved for last is true. Rocco’s book was everything I wanted and more.

As sad as I am that the Agents series has ended I can’t wait to see where Ms Asher takes us next. She is the queen of banter, bromance and sass….the possibilities are endless.

Brynne Asher does it again!

The Killers is my comfort read. I could listen to those books over and over again. Now, I have The Agents to add to my rereads. I loved this series so much. Brynne writes strong, alpha MMCs who unashamedly go all in when it comes to love. She also writes strong, intelligent FMCs. There are no third act breakups. Once they’re all in, they’re all in. Conflict comes from outside sources.

I was so happy for Rocco to get his HEA. Once again, Jason Clark and Rose Dioro did an amazing job with the narration. 🥰🥰🥰

Love This “Found” Family!

I love these Agents almost as much as the Killers! Brynne Asher can write some true love relationships between these sexy looking badass men and their feisty, intelligent women. And Jason Clarke and Rose Dioro brought all these characters to life for me. I so appreciate Clarke’s growly, deep, dark voice.

The deep family and friend support throughout the story teaches valuable lessons of the heart. The witty banter among the Agents is priceless. I loved that Cole and Bella, and Jarvis from the Killers, found their way into this story.

Will Taylor in NOLA have a book? I’m looking forward to this author’s next release.

Romantic thriller perfection

Illicit is the perfect closure to the phenomenal Agents series, and my new favorite by Brynne Asher!
I absolutely adored Rocco, he’s always had a piece of my heart, and seeing him become the extraordinary man he did, was such an incredible joy.
And what a thrilling story line - Illicit is romantic suspense at its best! The lurking danger, deception, vengeance, organized crime, as well as tender, swoony moments between our protagonists, all masterfully balanced with levity.
The found family we met throughout the Agents series plays such a compelling role in this coming of age, and finding your place in the world story. Their unwavering loyalty forms the backbone of this story. As Rocco grapples with his past, their presence shapes his path toward his future, and the flashbacks into his teens tell such a powerful story of deciding your own destiny and overcoming tumultuous beginning.
The narration is phenomenal, adding another dimension to the brilliant story!
I devoured Illicit in one sitting, teetering on the edge of my seat - a testament to the author’s skill and ability to keep us transfixed until the final word.
I highly recommended this book to everyone who enjoys a great romantic thriller!
