well explains why finance is not only moral, but the foundation of society. those who criticize capitalism and finance should get the info in this book into their heads. but that's probably their problem. that requires learning and self-improvement.

The authors brings the facts of finance to debunk some of the most common misconceptions about money and finance.
Most importantly, the authors challenges the established moral views about greed and the self-interest motivation of wealth.

I am a young independent financier myself. I trade leveraged indices and have never made less than 100% a year. I also hold debt notes and invest in people directly. Most people don’t understand what I do, and those look down on me for it. They think of me and my Capitalism as immoral. I’ve never felt so defended and assured as when I’ve listened to this book. I hope Yaron and Don go on to equip many, many more young minds with these wonderful philosophical pieces.

This book not only gives a good defense of the finance industry, it completely turns the issue around to reveal how great and indispensable the field of work is to our lives.

The authors have a pretty good grasp on the relevant economics to explain the role that financial markets play in allocating savings to their best investments, and how government intervention distorts this function and causes financial markets to go awry with complex practices.

The authors also go through much of the history of finance and philosophy towards financial practices. Some of the ideas in this book are even more focused on ethics than economics and history. The authors take each of these points of view to not only dismantle the critics of finance, but to leave the reader inspired by the opportunities and productivity that finance brings.

I assume this is not by coincidence, but this book leaves the reader with much the same feeling as Chris Gardner’s story “In Pursuit of Happiness”.

There is a lot of good facts that make for a good history of finance. Unfortunately, you have to wade through substantial self grandiosity that you wonder if the good outweighs the whining.

It does provide a lot of good information.

The historical to modern explanations about finance was great! It makes it so plainly clear that government meddling in free markets is the actual evil vs the indoctrination that so much of society has fallen victim to - that finance is the evil. This is a must read - for those who already know this, but more so for those whom do not.

In this book authors focus specifically on the finance industry and how, viewed through Rand's objectivist morality, free banking that's unobstructed by the government is undoubtably a major force of good in the world, metaphorically, finance is to business what electrocity production is to industry.

Contains several interesting deep dives into usury through the ages, the great depression and 2008 crisis.
