Publisher's summary

"With delicious characters and a story that kept me turning the pages, I can't recommend Rachel Rawlings enough. She will have you either laughing or falling in love in no time. Probably both!" (New York Times best-selling author Darynda Jones)

Adeline Severance leads a dangerous, magical double life.

Tattoo artist by day and warding witch by night, Adeline uses magical inks, a tattoo machine, and the help of her best friend, Lars, to permanently imbue spells of protection onto her clients. Thanks to the Magistrate's greed and failure to protect its citizens, her services were in high demand.

But when Nicholas Marks walks through the door of her tattoo studio looking for an appointment, one of Adeline's wards isn't the only thing he's after. Forced into working for the Magistrate, he's been tasked with bringing her in.

With her cover story blown, Adeline has two choices: Run as far and as fast as she can or stay and fight. Though she’s not ready to give up the only life she’s ever known, putting her trust in a traitor may end up being the worst decision she's ever made.

Fans of the Hollows series, Charmed, and The Craft are sure to devour this series from Rachel Rawlings.

Magic and tattoos

Being an inked woman myself, I really enjoyed this book. The 3 MCs made me laugh, upset me, and became dear to me throughout this book. I am really excited to listen to book 2!

good listen

This was a good start to a series. The narration was excellent and the voices were distinct for each person with no irritating ones. The story flows smoothly and kept my interest all the way to the end. I look forward to the next book.

Intriguing!

The storyline is original, intricate, and intriguing, filled with twists and turns. The characters are well developed and interesting. The story remains unresolved, and we have to wait for book two to know what happens next. Lauri Jo Daniels did a good job with the narration. Interesting character & story; sub-par performance

I liked the story and lead character fine. I'm sure someone loves this narrator's voice, like her Mum and Dad, but not me. It ruined the book for me. Her performance was wooden, lifeless. Rawlings deserved better.

😞

I really like the premise of this book. It might’ve been good if something was different. I don’t know if to was the writing that was painful or the narration wasn’t done correctly. Something wasn’t clicking and everything seemed all over the place. I kept having to go back to see if I missed something many times. I am now just giving up at 2 hours left. I have no clue what’s going on and I just don’t care to rewind again to figure it out. It’s almost like the narrator was reading every other page . It just didn’t flow very well. 😞
