About this listen

Three BBC Radio 4 full-cast dramatisations starring John Shrapnel as Morse and Robert Glenister as Lewis, plus a bonus reading by Colin Dexter of one of his short stories.

In Last Seen Wearing, Inspector Morse is reluctant to take over an old missing person case from a dead colleague. But two years, three months and two days after teenager Valerie Taylor's disappearance, somebody decides to supply some surprising new evidence....

In The Silent World of Nicholas Quinn, Inspector Morse tackles the murder of an exam invigilator. The newly appointed member of the Oxford foreign exam syndicate was deaf, and he wasn't from the insular world of the Oxford colleges. Now he is dead.

After he's rushed into hospital, Inspector Morse becomes intrigued by an old crime in The Wench Is Dead. Could the wrong men have been hanged for the murder of Joanna Franks?

Plus Colin Dexter reads his own short story, 'The Double Crossing', in which it is a good first day for a certain detective named Lewis.

Gripping, suspenseful and entertaining, these BBC dramatisations were adapted by Guy Meredith from the original Inspector Morse novels by Colin Dexter.

Enjoyable BBC Dramatization

Well acted dramatizations, no problems following plot lines. Hoping for more dramatizations of Morse stories

First listen of Inspector Morse

This was my second listen to a BBC radio dramatization, but my first, of Inspector Morse. I was very much surprised at how much I enjoyed the dramatization. The narration done by John Shrapnel was superb. I was sorry that there were only three. I’ve looked for more and found that the narrator is now deceased. I highly recommend this listen.

Radio drama suberp

I was hesitant about purchasing due to bad.products in the past but this full cast drama of three separate stories was MORSE and LEWIS. Cannot wait for the next release.

Another great Morse series

Although I have enjoyed this series, l couldn’t escape the TV Series.
But enjoyable just the same.
But not worthy of five stars.

Clever Stories

The Morse BBC stories are cleverly plotted and performance is strong although Morse interactions with his bosses are unnecessarily rather negative.

Love a good Inspector Morse series!

I used to watch these mysteries on TV, I have always loved the radio mysteries as well. This book did not disappoint!

The use a cast is such fun!

It is much better listening when there are a variety of voices reading! Quite enjoyable!

Drama but with less punch

I've enjoyed a number of Morse stories as narrated audiobooks - enjoying the unfolding mystery, locations, characters and pace of the investigation. While this title contains 3 solid dramatic adaptations somehow they don't quite deliver the same impact as Colin Dexter's original text.

Hard to follow story and narration

Hard to follow story especially with narrator for main character. The stories were too choppy along with the performance. l
