Better, but still too short to garner a following!

Book two in the series is a bit better than the opening round. We get a little more background and interest in Joe Gunn and Brain. Joe and Keela is an item and even Brain is getting a girlfriend. The plot line expands out this time to include some Celtic mythology involving The Morgan and her plans to start a war with the vampires. A good breakout, but it is quickly resolved due to the short story nature. Again, this volume is entirely too short. This audiobook was given by the author, narrator, or publisher at no cost in exchange for an unbiased review via Audiobook Boom.

The whole series is coming to Audible!

Loved the first book on Audible, and now book two is out! The narrator simply nails the main character which makes listening a pleasure. Can't wait for the next one to come out. If you like vampire fiction where the vamp don't sparkle give this series a look or a listen.

Vampires, Banshees and Other Supernaturals

Irish Lullaby

This audiobook is a little over two hours long, with a fast-paced, entertaining and humorous story-line about a vampire-hunting trio with a few additional supernatural beings thrown in for good measure (e.g. banshee, fairies, etc). In this respect, it reminded me of the HBO series “True Blood”.

The characters were well-developed and interesting, especially the main character, Joe Gunn (aka “Black Irish”). He’s hilarious! A one-time “Renfield” (slave of a vampire who finds humans for his vampire master) he now hunts and kills vampires for an organization known as the “The Order”. He is accompanied by a computer genius named Brian (aka “Brain”), and an ex-nun named “Keela”.

The narrator had a great voice; he spoke clearly, with a resonant, masculine tone.

I was provided this audiobook at no charge by the author, publisher and/or narrator in exchange for an unbiased review.

Joe Gun meets a Banshee

I am a longtime fan of the vampire genre, so I am always looking for the next great series to entertain me. I have definitely become a fan of the Black Irish Chronicles!

Joe Gunn is a former Renfield (a slave of a vampire and provider of humans for food for the vampire master) who is now trying to redeem his past wrongs by killing rogue vamps under the guidance of The Order. He is joined by an ex-nun named Keela and a computer geek/billionaire named Brian (Brain) in his quest.

In this episode, the reader is introduced to an ancient vampire called Alice because she looks like the main character in Alice in Wonderland. She is slightly insane and goes around Seattle killing pedophiles (maybe not so insane after all!). She tells Joe that The Dreamer is coming, but nobody seems to know who or what she means.

Flash forward to an ancient Banshee from Irish mythology emerging to join in the fun and you have a great story. There is plenty of action, a little romance, a few tears and a cliffhanger. I love this series and the narrator is perfect for the first person viewpoint of Joe Gun. My only complaint is that it was too short!

I was given a copy of the Audible version of this book through Audiobook Boom and chose to review it.

Another must read

They did it again! C.S. Anderson wrote a great story and Thomas Stone did an awesome job narrating it. The story is nonstop action! Can’t wait for book 3 in the series to come out on Audible!

short but good

I was given this free review copy audio book at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

As with the first book, it was short, pretty well narrated and kind of fun. I still struggle to become fully vested in the story and characters because it is so short. I enjoyed it enough, though, that I'll move on to the next one.

Great Gritty Shorts

So I could have a base to start with I went ahead and purchased book 1. These were great short stories in this series. Involving a ex-renfield, an ex-nun and a billionaire computer geek working for an organization that fights the bad. Fast paced action, witty dialogue, a little magic and a guy not afraid to like Elvis. I love the guy.
The narrator has been around awhile, but new to me. I found his work to be impressive. His voice is rich and clear. Perfect choice for this series.
