I huset på Algade bor der en sørøver, som Karl og Yrsa er gode venner med. En dag vinder sømanden fire millioner kroner. Yrsa og Karl er rigtig glade på hans vegne. Han beder dem hjælpe ham med at opfylde hans store drøm. Han vil ud at sejle igen.
Yrsa og Karl bor i en stor etageejendom i Algade. Hver bog handler om beboerne på en etage i huset og de gode og dårlige ting, de hver især kommer ud for. Bøgerne er skrevet til børn mellem 8 og 10 år og er lette at læse.
Lena Eilstrup er født i 1945 og har skrevet et lang række børne- og ungdomsbøger. Hun modtog i 1998 Kommunernes Skolebiblioteksforenings Forfatterpris for hele sit forfatterskab.
