About this listen

The Buddha's teaching on karma (literally, "action") is nothing other than his compassionate explanation of the way things are: Our thoughts and actions determine our future, and therefore we ourselves are largely responsible for the way our lives unfold. Yet this supremely useful teaching is often ignored due to the misconceptions about it that abound in popular culture, especially oversimplifications that make it seem like something not to be taken seriously. Karma is not simple, as Traleg Kyabgon shows, and it's to be taken very seriously indeed. He cuts through the persistent illusions we cling to about karma to show what it really is - the mechanics of why we suffer and how we can make the suffering end. He explains how a realistic understanding of karma is indispensable to Buddhist practice, how it provides a foundation for a moral life, and how understanding it can have a transformative effect on the way we relate to our thoughts and feelings and to those around us.

Wonderfully insightful meditative treatise.

This is my first encounter with Traleg Rinpoche. I thoroughly enjoyed his approach, the content explained pragmatically, while at the same time walking the middle path by sticking to the basic fundamentals of Buddhist beliefs.

I look forward to reading the book regarding medication.

A little over my head

Most of the book was great. There were a few spots that were very deep. Possibly, I just couldn't understand being I've only began my study of the religion. I would recommend this book. There were several answers about the subject that were explained to my satisfaction.

well put together

I would recommend this well put together very informative clear can be very beneficial if you listen with an open mind . personally I don't hold his views on it but I understand far better "the Buddhist point of view". one thing I do feel compelled to mention is that in my eyes it seems That he holds strong to that point of view so in some parts I really felt that maybe a strange bias... enjoy

INTENSE

This is a very important book, if you are studying Buddhism. I have the physical book so I can listen and read.
This is not an easy concept to grasp.
The presentation is very well done.
I will have to return to the book or parts of it again and again.
The narrator, mr. Peter Wickham is a pleasure to listen to.
My thanks to all involved, JK.

This book blew my mind

There were times were I feared that the content was drifting into academic facticity, but it would gradually hook me back into deeply profound points about the nature of reality and buddhist philosophy. A stunning work with great narration.

So much more than just Karma

What a fantastic book! Traleg Kyabgon's incredible description of our world and our place in it is beautifully communicated via the soothing voice of Peter Wickham. This is one of the most comprehensive accounts of Buddhism I have ever "read" - all centring on the subtle yet profound truth of Karma.

Amazing

I found the entire concept of karma from the Buddhist perspective fascinating. I'm glad that he tied Hindu into the conversation as that's the spiritual path I closely align with. A good text for those that want to understand various sides of karma.
