Publisher's summary

With their longships storm-blown to the southern coast of Engla-land, Thorgrim Night Wolf and his men find themselves rich with plunder and safely ensconced in a priory called Christchurch. But that cannot last. Thorgrim, in a wolf dream, has seen the enemy armies closing in, and he knows that their peace will soon be at an end. The gods do not go so easy on him and his men. He has learned that through experience and hard use. Nor are the gods the only threat they face. As Nothwulf, brother of the murdered ealdorman of Dorset, and Cynewise, his sister-in-law, fight for rule of the shire, each seeks to make the raiders unwitting pawns in their game, maneuvering toward a final battle that each hopes will spell the end of the other and crush the Norse strangers who have invaded their shores.

Love this entire series!

this book is really well written along with the others of the series. the author does a great job pulling actual history into it through the use of accurate terms and represents the culture well.

aside from historical accuracies the book is entertaining and delves into how not only life was during these times but also politics in an interesting manner

FANDAMNTASTIC!

Absobloominlutely one of the best books in one of the best series I've read. well done, Jim Nelson, our not-so-ancient mariner! Audible has all 10 volumes of the Viking series by James L. Nelson. I've read them all once and started again on the whole series. VERY ENTERTAINING. HISTORIC. TENSE. FUNNY. Even TEARY in places . Highly recommended!

This has become my favorite book series!

Kept it exiting from start to finish! Some things are similar to the other books, some things are all new. Good thing to bring in Odd, and Halvdan Svarte!

The narrator!

This is such a good series..but plz..and I know audible has done this before..change this horrible narrator! Use Luke daniels, or r.c. bray,or ray porter,or the guy from the last kingdom series matt bates! Couldn't finish, had to go to the kindle version..but if you like slow boring same tone talking with long gaps and sudden stops, then by all means this narrator is for you!

More please!!! Time to go home!

Thogrim and his crew need to go home and kick some butt there. The entire series and the charectars involved have been captivating but home beckons and I for one can't wait to see how it all comes together!

Great Story Teller

James L. Nelson is a great story teller. He knows how to bring his characters to life. Shaun the narrator did a great job as well.
I have almost made it through the entire series. One book to go, hoping it won’t be the end, that there will be more books to come in this series.

If you’re listening to this book, you enjoy the series.

If you’re listening to this book, you enjoy the series. I recommend starting with the first book. While the series is written that you don’t have to listen in order, I recommend you do. This was the first time the series also has Odd more than just in the prologue.
