Publisher's summary

Call it Kinsey Millhone in bad company. Call it a mystery without a murder, a treasure hunt without a map, a quest novel with truly mixed-up motives. Call it the return of Kinsey as a bad girl, quick-witted and quicksilvery, poking her nose into everybody's dirty laundry as she joins up with a modern-day Bonnie and Clyde in an Our Gang comedy that will take her halfway across the country and leave her with a major headache and an empty bank balance.

America's favorite borderline delinquent is back, with her one-liners on tape and her energy level on high, romping through her fastest and funniest adventure in this, her 12th foray into the alphabet of crime.

Critic reviews

"Grafton exhibits a sharp ear for dialogue and a quarter-horse pace. Her characters are as real as any this side of Elmore Leonard." K Is for Killer offers further proof of Grafton's growth as a writer. This is one mystery series that gains strength with [each] passing letter. (People)
"An adventure that begins straightforwardly enough but quickly twists into a knotted string of untruths." (Publishers Weekly)

the book is great but the reader is the worst!

the plot line and story is a good book I read it prior to purchasing it on Audible. I will not buy anymore of this series if the reader continues to be the same person. I don't know why they switch Midstream in her series but this reader is terrible. She's worse than listening to the telephone operator.

Puzzle Solving Skills Required

This book is an exceptional Grafton masterpiece. the story had me in the first chapter. By the last chapter I was pulling out my hair trying to come up with a solution. You WILL enjoy this book. I promise!

Entertainment

As usual Kindsey is entertaining, always leaving you on the edge of your seat. Outspoken and gutsy. My type of woman. Tell it like it is.
The author ended this one w/ style. Better than the last. She is always worth listening to.
I spend my commute 45 min each way. Even traffic stop and go doesn't get me down any longer.

Kinsey's Big Adventure

Chasing the bad guy or girl is her favorite thing to do, even if she does complain. Liked the storyline. Better than last book.

Excellent series

Sue Grafton’s books are wonderful. She creates characters who feel so real that I miss them when they are absent in a particular story. The situations Kinsey is hired to investigate aren’t terrifying, the books are not thrillers; yet they are never silly or shallow. I I will say that what drives me crazy is when Kinsey knocks on a complete stranger’s door, introduces herself and says she has some questions, and the homeowners immediately invite Kinsey in while sharing details of their life. I don’t know anyone who did that, even in the 80s. Nonetheless, I think Grafton wrote beautifully and poetically. I make myself wait between each book because I will be sad to reach the end of the series!

Typical Grafton

Another Kinsey Milhone mystery. Nothing too different than the others. Narrarator does a good job. If you are a big fan of Grafton, this won't disapoint.
