Beliefs are very powerful. When you change your beliefs, you change your behavior and thus your outcomes. This is not some new age feel-good idea. There is solid research to back this up. I'll give you two examples. Gunder Hägg, a Swedish athlete, held the record for the one-mile run at 4:01.4, which he achieved on July 17, 1945. It took nine years for that record to be broken. On May 6, 1954, Roger Bannister broke that record and ran the one mile at 3:59.4. Only two months later, that record was broken, and every few years since then the record is set lower and lower.

Here, you'll get the same accessible, well-rounded introduction to constitutional law as a typical law student - but with the added benefit of noted constitutional scholar Eric Berger's brilliant insights.

Story
John Taylor Gatto's Weapons of Mass Instruction focuses on mechanisms of traditional education which cripple imagination, discourage critical thinking, and create a false view of learning as a byproduct of rote-memorization drills. Gatto's earlier book, Dumbing Us Down, introduced the now-famous expression of the title into the common vernacular. Weapons of Mass Instruction adds another chilling metaphor to the brief against conventional schooling.

You Are Now Less Dumb is grounded in the idea that we all believe ourselves to be objective observers of reality - except we’re not. But that's okay, because our delusions keep us sane. Expanding on this premise, McRaney provides eye-opening analyses of 15 more ways we fool ourselves every day. This smart and highly entertaining audiobook will be wowing listeners for years to come.

If the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over but expecting a different result, America has been insane since the Reagan era. But the election of Donald Trump is certainly not like what America has done before. The media delights in diagnosing President Trump as “mad” - but what if he’s actually the cure for a country who’s been going mad for years?

Our species, it appears, is hardwired to get things wrong in myriad different ways. Why did recipients of a loan offer accept a higher rate of interest when a pretty woman's face was printed on the flyer? Why did one poll on immigration find the most despised aliens were ones from a group that did not exist? What made four of the Air Force's best pilots fly their planes, in formation, straight into the ground?

Expanding upon the illuminating discussion of the attractor patterns of success from Power vs. Force, this remarkable never-before-published book pulls back the curtain on the inner workings of the successful mind. Success, according to Dr. Hawkins, is an attitude we inhabit rather than a goal we strive for.

Gravity affects every aspect of our physical being, but there’s a psychological force just as powerful - yet almost nobody has heard of it. It’s responsible for bringing groups of people together and pulling them apart, making certain goals attractive to some and not to others, and fueling cycles of anxiety and conflict. In Wanting, Luke Burgis draws on the work of French polymath René Girard to bring this hidden force to light and reveals how it shapes our lives and societies.

Brooks contends that after years of focusing on economic growth and traditional social values, it is time for a new kind of conservatism - one that helps the vulnerable without mortgaging our children's future. In Brooks' daring vision, this conservative movement fights poverty, promotes equal opportunity, celebrates earned success, and values spiritual enlightenment. It is an inclusive movement with a positive agenda to help people lead happier, more hopeful, and more satisfied lives.

Good but could have been better.
Would have been nice to have the definitions after the examples. Could have verified our assumptions of the word and origin. Looking it up took alot of time that could have been used elsewhere.

This Works
What made the experience of listening to LSAT Vocabulary Success: Build Your Vocabulary the Right Way the most enjoyable?
I've tried other vocabulary programs that worked just okay. This one, however, is a much better program because it is built on a completely different premise; you have to try to figure out what a word means to really understand how it's used. I highly recommend this audio for anyone studying for the LSAT, GRE, or any other test that tests vocabulary.

Very Helpful
What made the experience of listening to LSAT Vocabulary Success: Build Your Vocabulary the Right Way the most enjoyable?
This program is fantastic. It teaches you how to improve your vocabulary by understanding the words in context. That is helpful because on the LSAT you can't use a dictionary to look up words, so you have to understand the words in context. I recommend this audio for anyone trying to improve their vocabulary overall but especially for a standardized test like the LSAT, GMAT, GRE, or SAT.
