Publisher's summary

An event planner desperate to prove himself. A CEO with sky-high dreams. The grand opening that brings them together.

Dean is the man behind the Blue Star Resort in Castle Harbor. He’s delighted to see his dreams become a reality - even if it means hiring a local to work with his star planner. Despite their friction, Dean can’t help but have eyes for the new arrival.

Wyatt left town a long time ago, only to return when hired on for the impressive job of opening the resort. It’s the sort of thing that only comes along once in a lifetime. Just like the CEO of the company.

As the opening presses nearer, Dean and Wyatt must work closely together to assure a blow-out like Castle Harbor has never seen before. But will their budding romance ruin their professionalism and send them upstairs?

Last Resort is a steamy gay romance audio book intended for adults only! Like all Castle Harbor audiobooks, this final chapter guarantees monogamous relationships, a happily ever after, and this audiobook and every other audiobook in the series can be listened to in any order!

A Must Read

This is the fifth book in the Castle Harbor Series with developed characters who both of their careers are riding on the success of the grand opening. Dean is the CEO and Wyatt is the event planner. They are both passionate and determined to prove they have what it takes to succeed. I have loved every book in this series. just keeps getting better and better. The narration did an amazing job.

Fun Story . . . Enjoyable Read

The story was fun to read and easy to follow. Dean is the CEO of his grandfather's company that owns the Blue Star Resort. Wyatt is one of the event planners for the grand opening. They meet for the first time neither knowing who the other was.

Remembering the next day they were stunned, but still had a lot of attraction for each other. Wyatt had been burned in the past so he wouldn't start a relationship with Dean!

The journey they take was fun to listen to and the ending gives everything a NEW reader could wish for.

stronger together

Wyatt is an event planner and returning home small town boy. Dean is the CEO of the resort Wyatt wants to work at. The men meet as strangers the night before the job starts and share a moment and a connection. Can feelings be kept separate and professional? Dean's board is very critical of him , and he could lose his job
I liked that both characters grew and manned up when needed and stayed stronger together. The narrator's voice and expressions added to my positive experience!

ONCE BITTEN, TWICE SHY

A great read where a large resort has gone ‘green’ to keep the surrounding environment and the aesthetic beauty of a small town intact leads to an event planner who has been falsely accused of sleeping to get to the top and the CEO of the resort’s company falling in love and having to deal with their different personal issues to stay with each other. A bit of diabetic savvy and the story captured me. There were scenes that I liked so much, I replayed them several times.

The narration of the story was okay. There were times where I had to replay the scene to figure out who was talking.

Satisfying conclusion to the Castle Harbor saga

The final (?) entry in the Castle Harbor series has a happy ending but you're sad to see the whole gang say goodbye. In this conclusion, the Blue Star resort is almost ready to open. The grand opening is a make-or-break event for the two protagonists: Dean Jensen, the CEO, and Wyatt, the event planner (whom we've met earlier in the series). Their careers are riding on the success of the grand opening. Neither expected love to complicate an already complicated situation. Of course, there's an HEA, but there are twists and turns to get there. Austin Jay does his usual fine job telling the story. Recommended.

Lovely!

I enjoyed listening to the audio book so much so I finished it in one sitting. Austin Jay's voice complemented and gave life to the story. I personally thought that the story was engaging and well written. I like that it wasn't too heavy and has a happy ending; it was like listening to cool jazz while sipping coffee.

I tried to like it

This author has great potential but in all his books it leaves me disappointed. At the start it cought my attention but two chapters after I was bored and lost interest in the characters. The fire he started with at the beginning withered and died and he wasn't able to bring that fire back.

A good Listen

The narrator does a good job with this and I liked the MCs, there's more to Dean than the initial playboy you think he is and Wyatt is a sweetheart. The overall story felt rushed and a little incomplete at some points i rewound because I thought I missed something. Overall its a good listen.

not what i was expecting

Did the story keep me engaged: yes
Was I invested in the characters: yes
Would I listen to it again: yes

I'm really conflicted about this book. I wanted so very much to love it, I've enjoyed books 1 through 4 and was expecting something spectacular for the final book / opening of the Resort story. I guess my expectations may have been a little too high. Don't get me wrong - if you look on the surface - it's 5 star's: this is a great story, lots going on, likeable characters, good pace and a HEA for everyone, but looking at it deeper,- it's 3 star's: I feel like the story was rushed, I was invested in the characters but they had no depth, it went (1) hookup with "chemistry" I didn't really feel until right at the end (2) a newspaper article declaring us a couple when we're not (3) pretending to be a couple (4) "the drama happens" then professing or love. The first half hour and the last half hour were excellent, the part in the middle ... there are chunks of the "getting to know you" part of the relationship missing. I also find it hard to believe someone who has managed insulin effectively for 20 years would make such a mistake and a CEO couldn't be so oblivious to how his Board feels to be so blindsided.... so great story with lots of potential - but for me, it was just missing that special something that I usually get from this author.

Austin Jay did a good job on the narration, the emotions and personalities of the characters came through to make an enjoyable audio experience. That being said, I am more familiar with narrators giving distinct voices to the characters, this isn't that type of narration and there were times when I lost track of which character was speaking.
