About this listen

A violent rapist is attacking women, leaving them for dead on south London streets. When young policewoman Maeve Kerrigan responds to a domestic disturbance, she's horrified to stumble across the latest victim. But as a new recruit - and a female to boot - she'll have to face down not only her own nerves but rampant sexism from her colleagues if she wants to be taken seriously enough to even assist on the case.

International best seller Jane Casey takes Maeve back to her early days as a rookie police woman in Left for Dead - a brilliant novella sure to delight series fans and new listeners alike.

Nothing special and a bit gross.

I listened to half of this and tried to delete it.
Not my cup of tea.

Really good!

Thought this was a really good story. Quick read. Kept my interest the whole time. I’ve been loving the “quick read” stories lately. They go right down to business, the action comes quick, and there’s less fluff. And then you have a take like this one where Ms. Casey gives you the perfect amount of “fluff” and leaves you totally respecting her as an author of this genre. She does a fabulous job of investing you in her characters, especially the main, without taking up 16 pages describing a hanging bulb’s rays of light reflecting off of the lone butter knife in the corner on the floor. Ugh. Lol. She does it right and that takes a special talent. Can’t wait to look into more of her work. She’s a fun character for sure.

Excellent portrayal of the female struggle

Excellent portrayal of the struggle involved with being a minority (female) in a career dominated by males. Ignore naysayers, I am glad I did...Solid performance and short story of a new police officer trying to excel.

Quick listen

This was a good book to listen to while I was cleaning. When it ended, almost 3 hours had passed and most of my housework was done. I'd say thats a good thing!

Good one

It was a good selection. Built up characters quickly and a simple but good crime element. Had a hard time with the accent but was still good.
