Publisher's summary

A maid who will become legend....

Sixteen-year-old Alena longs for a world where peasants, servants, and nobles are all equal. Truly, that will never be possible, until the day when she removes a sword from a stone and might have the chance to become queen...if she can rally those same peasants, servants, and nobles behind her.

Legend is a King Arthur retelling with Arthur as Alena, a maid who can possibly become so much more than she ever dreamed possible. Perfect for fans of The Mists of Avalon, The Selection, and Red Queen.

Enchanting

This was an enchanting and enjoyable twist on the Sword and the Stone. Alena would like nothing more than to have peace and see everyone equal, however as she soon realizes life is not that simple. I thought the author did a good job of presenting this side of a popular story. I really liked Liam, the stable boy who became Alena’s friend and ally, in this story. I thought his character added a lot to the storyline. The story definitely left me wanting more. Sarah L. Colton did a fabulous job with all the voices and emotions needed in the story. #AudiobookObsessionReviewer

Loved every minute!

I loved this one so much!! I am a sucker for anything King Arthur related and this was so well done! I think fans of Kiersten White's Conqueror's Saga would really love this book. The narration was great and I loved the characters. I received a free copy for review.

Very Interesting Read

The performance was really great and the story had my attention from the beginning. I did find myself disagreeing with some of the main characters decisions which made me love it all the more but irritated all the same. Overall perfect.

From a Maid to a Queen

What if the legendary Arthur of Briton had been a girl?
This medieval sword and sorcery adventure follows the life of a young foundling, raised (more or less) by a nobleman who finds her on his doorstep. She spends her life working as a maid in the castle, until one day, when a series of circumstances forces her to become much more.
Legend is a much grittier and less chivalrous treatment of medieval England than your run of the mill fairy tale, but the characters are interesting, and for the most part likable and the plot is engaging and fun to read even if it borrows heavily from the Arthurian sword in the stone legends.
Sarah Colton is an excellent narrator which makes Legend a pleasure to listen to.

Wonderful Retelling of The Sword in the Stone

I know that I would have loved this version of the classic King Arthur story as a young girl! It is an inspiration story of a women from meager means rising up to become something greater than she even dreamed possible! If you are a fan of King Arthur and are a women, this is a great book for you! The character developments well thought out and each character has multiple sides. I like how not all are all good or all evil. So, if you want to get swept away to another world with a story about a young woman coming into her own power, this is a must read!

Fantastic and Unique

This was an exiting and intriguing take on the Sword in the Stone. Alena was a great character, she wanted peace and for people to be equal, though at times her back and forth bugged me. Liam was adorable and I loved his character, he brought a lot to the story. I am really excited to read the next book.

Sarah L. Colton did a fantastic job with the narration. She brought the emotions and everyone had a different voice. She really helped bring this exciting story to life.

If King Arthur was a female

Alena is a maid in a Duke's household. She is full of herself believing that all people should be treated the same. This does not endear her to the other servants in the household. Knights are fighting in a tournament and she is tasked with tending to one of the contestants. He has need of a sword and Alena rushes to retrieve one lest he go into the combat less one. She sees the sword in the stone (knowing nothing of its value) pulls it out. The rest of the story revolves around Alena and her people. I was given a free copy of this book at my request and this is my honest review.
