About this listen

Fantasy fans rejoice! Seven years after writer and editor Robert Silverberg made publishing history with Legends, the acclaimed anthology of original short novels by some of the greatest writers in fantasy fiction, the long-awaited second volume is here.

Each of the best-selling writers represented in these selections from Legends II returns to the fantasy universe he or she made famous throughout the world. Whether set before or after events already recounted elsewhere, whether featuring beloved characters or compelling new creations, these masterful short novels are both mesmerizing stand-alones, perfect introductions to the work of their authors, and indispensible additions to the epics on which they are based.

Diana Gabaldon turns to an important character from her Outlander saga, Lord John Grey, in "Lord John and the Succubus", a supernatural thriller set in the early days of the Seven Years War.

Terry Brooks adds an exciting epilogues to The Wishsong of Shannara in "Indomitable", the tale of Jair Ohmsford's desperate quest to complete the destruction of the evil Ildatch...armed only with the magic of illusion.

good Story, bad narration

I'm not a fan of the narrator. I don't like the way he does the voices, nor his pronunciation of names/words.

Review for indomitable

For me indomitable started on section 6. I didn't like that the chapters (sections) didn't have names, only numbers, so I had to search for terry brooks' book, but just like the rest of his series I was very happy with the story once I located it. It's a very short story that takes place two years after the wishsong book. If you like the book series you should give this one a shot, I don't think you will be disappointed, or at least I wasn't.

Skippable

I picked this up for the Indomitable short story as I am listening through the Shannara series. This story seems to be backstory for the graphic novel that was created. Adds nothing to the existing story and if you skip it you'll never feel like you missed something. The narrator was just alright. I did attempt to listen to the other story in this book since I paid for it and it was terrible. Gave it 30 minutes and that's 30 minutes of my life I'll never get back...

Mixed

What would have made Legends II, Volume 2 better?

How about adding ratings to your books so I know what I am getting before I buy it!

What was most disappointing about Diana Gabaldon and Terry Brooks ’s story?

Terry Brooks did it again with a great story!

Diana Gabaldon - sorry, lost interest quickly. Was not interested in hearing a story with a bi-sexual character so never got past the background part of the book.

Diana Gabaldon is horrid. Brooks fair but short

Galbaldon ruined this purchase. She deserves to be shunned for being a cliche writer with excessive intolerance. I hope I never encounter her filthy writing again. Brooks story is hardly a chapter but nice addition to his storyline.

This is NOT Legends Ii volume 1

The book cover for this audiobook is misleading because it clearly shows that it is the version with George R. R. Martin’s novella “The Sworn Sword” but that is not the case. On amazon it shows that version but when I downloaded it it was a completely different book. I just wasted an audible credit for the wrong book...

A terrible pairing

Bought this selection primarily for the Terry Brooks story (which was, itself, just fine), however the preceding Outlander story was so incredibly bad that I couldn’t bring myself to endure more than a few minutes of it. My goodness, was that bad.
Someone should be soundly chastised for putting these two stories side-by-side..!
