Publisher's summary

"I had no idea who has just hit us, and my mind didn't think to consider if they were all right or not, or what circumstances might have caused them to cross the median and strike us. I simply looked at the car in silence. Then I heard a voice that was not my own in my mind as clearly as if it had come from someone seated next to me. It was straightforward and filled with power, and the voice said, 'Let it go!'"

On a cold February night in 2007, a devoted father of four and a seventeen-year-old drunk driver both received life sentences. In one violent, devastating instant, both faced a drastically different - and uncertain - future. But as Chris Williams sat in his demolished vehicle, staring at the car that had just caused the death of his wife, his unborn baby, his nine-year-old daughter, and his eleven-year-old son, he committed to do something extraordinary: he would forgive.

That decision launched Chris on a journey toward healing that affected his family and friends, the young man who caused the accident, and an entire community - a community that would face another deadly tragedy just a few days later. Chris's message of forgiveness is an empowering invitation to all who have suffered, however unjustly, to lay down their burdens and let it go.

All About Forgiveness

A heart breaking yet very uplifting book, it is the story of a horrendous automobile accident that took the lives of Williams' wife, daughter, son and unborn baby. Chris knew from the moment he realized that so many of his family were dead that he had to forgive the intoxicated teenager for what he did. Although that sounds simplistic, cut and dried, it was hardly that easy. It was a long, hard road back to some kind of normalcy for Chris and his two surviving sons. It is a story of the road to forgiveness and triumph over the baser human instincts in search of the sublime. Chris gives us a model to follow when troubles, many times so much less severe than what he endured, beset each of us.

Great true story. Very touching.

Powerfully emphasizes the far-reaching powers of the Atonement. If Chris can let this go, I can surely let the little insignificant things go that I worry and grudge about. Very inspiring.

A Great Example!

A friend recommended this book and I am so glad that I listened. He tells the story with honesty and also the raw pain that anyone would feel. My heart was just torn apart by the pain that he suffered yet he chose to forgive and thus lose that additional hatred that could have ruined him. Most of us would have both the grief and the hatred that would eat at our souls. I hope that I can remember the lessons that were taught in this book. Thank you Mr. Williams!

Favorite book I've read this year.

Since I first heard of Chris Williams' story, I was fascinated by his ability to forgive. I was excited that I was able to listen to him read his own words and hear from his own mouth how he was able to do what most would think is unimaginable. His sweet and simple testimony conquered a most complicated situation. I will be giving this book as a gift as my favorite thing I came across this year.

His faith in our Savior.

I loved the whole faith filled story. I love my Savior even more now and I know what I will place at His feet for the help I so desperately need. Thank you Chris for your wonderful testimony. By the way, I first saw you on Come Follow Up and I immediately ordered your book. So very glad I did. God bless you and your whole family. Linda Pinegar Christensen

Powerful book on how to deal with trials

After nearly 35 years of living with my own personal trial and looking for ways to move past them I received an impression to purchase Let It Go. I’m so grateful I did it’s given me answers and directions to questions in my life that I’m now looking for answers to and ways to move past my pain and more fully understand what forgiveness means. I would highly recommend this book and want to personally thank Chris for taking allowing us to go somewhat on this journey with him as he’s relived this tragic event for our benefit. Thank you!!

Humble. Heartfelt. Healing.

Listening to this book was an excellent use of my time & money. The narration may not be entertaining, even dry as suggested by some in other reviews, but I found it was real & engaging at a pace that gave me time to soak in & chew on the tidbits of wisdom scattered throughout the story. This man is a beautiful example of humility, humor, hopefulness, a servant leader & an instrument of God's work being carried out in the most unexplainable tradgeys of life. I am inspired by his incredibly connected prayer life & ability to allow the Holy Spirit to work. Even though forgiveness is the major theme offered here, I was touched by the author's selflessness, honesty & Faith just as much as his inspiring ability to forgive.
