Publisher's summary

With Thomas Jefferson's purchase of the vast Louisiana Territory, the U.S. President was one step closer to realizing his dream of a nation spanning the oceans. The next step was exploration of this new geographical possession. Thus began the unbelievable four-year odyssey chronicled in Lewis and Clark: The Great American Expedition. When Meriwether Lewis joined William Clark to jointly head the Corps of Discovery, their quest would lead to an enduring record of happenstance, heartbreak, and hope. Featuring unforgettable exploits and indelible characters such as Sacagawea, the young Shoshone mother who led the Corps upriver in 1805, this is an audio treasury of courage and adventure.

Amateur but interersting

I felt this book would be wonderful for children as it was full of interesting stories about Lewis and Clark, but for those seeking a more scholar review of this remarkable journey, perhaps they might seek a more historical perspective.

Far better than I could have emagined!

Years ago, I read the full written account of the expedition.

It WAS interesting, but so long, that I kept loosing tract of the story in places.

This, on the other hand is far more enjoyable.

I'd recommend both, if you're really interested, but start with this one first.

A little slow, but stick with it

Wasn't prepared for the character voices and music, but wound up enjoying it. Tend to prefer something faster moving, but wound up enjoying this. If I could, I'd give it 3.5 stars.

It grows on you

It's a bit immature. The narrator high pitched voice is very annoying listening to its repetition, but it's much better than listening to a narrator narrating a book. Highly recommend. I listened to this three times now.

Lewis and Clark (unabridged)

I give it 4 stars. I liked it, but compared to another biography of Lewis and Clark, it was not quite as good.

Irritating

Ugh. I was unable to tolerate the distractingly bad acting ( characters were "acted" out). I stopped listening because of this. Perhaps there was merit to the writing, but since the narration & acting were so grating I'll never know.
