Take a breath

The Story was excellent. The Characters were interesting.
Just wish the audible narrator had taken a breath between sentences and paused between paragraphs. I had problems telling which character was speaking since it was multiple points of views, without a clear break or pause.

Too short

I would have liked a lot more of this story. And the narration was a bit fast. There were no breaks between character narratives to know he was switching over.

I'm so torn...

Any additional comments?

4.5 stars for narration / 2 stars for story

The one thing I really liked about this was the narration by Nick Flint. I will absolutely be checking out more of his work.

As for the story, I'm easily annoyed by Griffin's continued emasculation of the bottom in the relationship.

Seriously, can't both wolves be strong and masculine? No, the guy who bottoms (and consequently will eventually become pregnant if they have sex on a new moon) is always the weaker one and called by the sobriquets of "honey", "sweetheart" and "baby" (which isn't necessarily a bad thing), and, worst of all, is usually depicted as having the kind of traits usually found to be ascribed to clichéd feminine characters (which is...for me).

*sighs* Maybe I should quit trying to read Griffin's stories...but I really love shifter stories, especially with mpreg, and there *is* something about Griffin's writing that keeps drawing me back in, hopeful that this time it will be different...

Look, if you liked her other series, you'll probably like this one. Mainly because it is following the same guideline as her Holland Brothers series.

First book, "feminine" mate is claimed, second book: alpha will claim his broken mate who also happens to be the best friend (well, brother in this case as well) of the "feminine" wolf from book one.

If you're into audio books, you should definitely check out the audio for this one - Nick was great.

Good book… bad narration

The narrator seemed rush to just read though with barely a breath in between sentences. It was so monotone I would feather read the book myself. The narrator for Toni's other series Holland Brothers was so much better.

This book from what I was told is one of the best.

I don't know if I can tell you anything yet about the book I am not yet done with it.
Thank You Bill

A Nice Mate's tale...

I liked this book. I enjoyed the story of Declan and Liam. I remember Liam from another series by Toni Griffin and the reminder of several of those characters was nice to hear about. The narration of Nick Flint brings so much to the story and he is a pleasure to listen to. A cute story with a bit of intrigue and lots of lovin'.

Short and sweet and sexy

Liam is a Beta for the Pennaeth Alpha (most important in Australia). He’s excited to find his own mate, but fears it’ll never happen. He’s shocked when he finds him – naked- on his porch one night, clearly fleeing for his life.

Declan is in charge of his little brother now that his parents have died. He’s in a pack he doesn’t really care for and he’s lonely. When he witnesses his unscrupulous Alpha kill a pack member in cold blood over drugs, he runs for his life. He runs until he can’t and happens to stop when he smells the scent of his mate.

The two get together with very few problems, but they still have Declan’s old Alpha and Declan’s brother to deal with.

**

This sets us up for the companion to the Holland brother stories and introduces us to some of the characters we’ll see later in the series. It’s sweet and sexy. Not too deep but a fun read/listen.

Nick Flint does a great job with the narration. He’s easy to listen to and to my ears his accent is perfect.

If you life shifter stories you’ll love this.

Love Toni but not Nick

If you could sum up Liam in three words, what would they be?

A tear jerker

Who was your favorite character and why?

Declan because he suffered so much to find his mate and then to recover his brother from the hands of a vicious Alpha.

What three words best describe Nick Flint’s voice?

Lacking in emotion

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

All the moments where Declan was trying to get to his brother Tommy. Toni wrote them so well that I could feel the love he felt for Tommy and how important he was to Declan.

Any additional comments?

Reading the book was better than the audio.

Loving the Australian flair

If you could sum up Liam in three words, what would they be?

Intense, Exciting, Adventurous

What did you like best about this story?

The way these two men were literally thrown into each other's paths after completely giving up on finding their mate

What about Nick Flint’s performance did you like?

Love the Australian accent. This is the first story I've listened to with a completely Australian voice. I really enjoyed the way he showed Declan's vulnerability and Liam's strength with the tones he gave them.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

I liked how Liam was very gentle at the start, fully aware of what his mate had been through and not pushing to complete the mating right away.

Any additional comments?

Great story, aside from a couple things that happened that were a bit predictable I really enjoyed it and went straight to book 2 the same day.
