Publisher's summary

I’m over men. I’m swearing them off.
It’s taken me years to get away from the last one. He left me bruised and battered—in more ways than one.
My dislike is as deep as my distrust.
As I start my own business, I consider myself fortunate. The thing is, I’ve never been the lucky girl. What was supposed to be a one-time job, turns into nothing but trouble.
And that’s something I know a lot about.
Lachlan Daly makes me feel everything I swore I never would. One glance into those whiskey-colored eyes and I’m lost. His on-again, off-again desire for me has my head spinning and my pulse pounding.
The minute I think I have it figured out, I find myself making decisions that we both will regret.
Ink and whiskey have a way of making the truth come out.

Leaona Luxx is greatest writer! this is another great creation by Leaona. she has become my favorite author. her writing brings us along for such a great ride. I laugh, cry, fall in love, feel grief, and feel along with each character. I love how characters reappear in every book. when you fall in love with a character it is great when they are intertwined with the new ones you fall in love with! Leaona is a brilliant!

Terrific Story & Narration🎧Captivating & Intense!

Wow, this book draws you right in, the story is fast moving and captivating from start to end. Leaona Luxx is a gifted author, I enjoy her writing style and the characters and storylines she creates. Maisyn, the lead female has not had the best luck with the men in her life, she gets herself out of a bad relationship and away from her abusive ex-boyfriend. Though he does not get the message right away. A tattoo artist and mother of two darling daughters is struggling to make ends meet as he gets her new business off ground. She has good friends and support staff, I adored her bestie Flynn he is aces. Lachlan Daly has been working hard at getting the family business out of the red and back into the black. His brother Lennox should be at the helm but he has issues and is not doing what he is supposed to do. The two do not get along or see eye to eye. Lachlan rather be doing his own thing but he is always doing what is best for others in this case the family business. Wanting to get some work done on his ink his friend, One, refers him to Maisyn, a friend of his sister. His referral came with a warning, that she is off limits. But realizing she is the one who spiked his interest he knows that is not going to be easy to do. I loved the chemistry between these two, since she is not interested in getting involved with another man and he trying to maintain an image for the company’s Board of Directors, they fight the attraction. But they can deny each other for so long. I loved how everything played out in this book, the story is cleverly plotted and there is never a dull moment. There is plenty of drama, angst, twists and turns, heartfelt and emotional moments and some hot romance. I loved how great Lachlan was with her girls, Hope and Faith. Leaona Luxx, thank you for another great story, the emotional rollercoaster ride and the mind-blowing ending. I am looking forward to what comes next in this amazing series.

🎧📚🎧And for the terrific narration, Kelli Lindsay and Jarman Day are talented narrators and voice artists. They did a great job portraying the characters, humanizing them, giving each their own voice and personality, as well as heart and attitude. Kelli Lindsay’s take on Maisyn was perfection and Jarman Day did the same for Lachlan, they made the roles their own. Both were great performing the roles of the secondary characters as well. They are entertaining storytellers and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for the great listen🎧

Wow! Ended with a bang!

Wow! I didn't see that ending coming. This was my first listen by Leaona Luxx. What a great way to start. Loved Maisyn & Lachlan's story. Maisyn is one tough chick! My kind of heroine. Already started book 2, Whiskey Rebellion. Excellent narration by Kelli Lindsay & Jarman Day. They were both new to me narrators & they totally delivered!

I hate unbeknownst cliffhanger

First, let me get this off of my chest I wish authors would let the listener know when a book ends in a cliffhanger especially when the next audiobook hasn't been released. I can no longer read ebooks and I've been in lockdown for 11 months so far thanks to covid. I am beginning to fight depression so i only read books with HEA. There was nothing in the blurb to let me know this was a duet. I was so upset when I got to the end. For those of you that can read the next 2 books are out in ebook form.

With that said, I did love this book. I enjoyed how the author developed her characters. Maisyn has been emotionally and physically abused by previous boyfriends so she doesn't want to emotionally give herself to another one. Lachlan just hasn't ever found a woman to love. When these two meet there is chemistry, but it will take awhile for love and trust to develop. All will go fine until the lie/lack of omission is revealed. Their friends and family are a wonderful support system and also add comedy to the story. Maisyn's little girls are wise beyond their years.

The narrators do an excellent job of portraying the emotions that the characters are experiencing. They give the characters distinctive voices and bring the story to life. If you are okay with cliffhangers, I highly recommend this Audible book.

Wow, just wow.

Lachlan’s all business. He’s not looking for love, especially not with a much younger woman. Maisyn’s trying to get her Tattoo business off and running. She lost one love way to soon, and then got caught up in a physically abusive relationship. She’s sworn off men, sworn off love. sworn having faith in anyone again. Lachlan and Maisyn might not have seen each other coming, but fate’s vision was crystal clear, or was it? Beautifully written and fabulously narrated, this story has good guys, some characters that have a special place in hell waiting for them, and an ending that stunned me and took me completely by surprise. Be warned, this is part one of two, and ends in a cliffhanger. The story continues in book two, Whiskey Rebellion, which I will be starting immediately, because I want these two together and I can’t wait to see how this all ends!

What a story

Maisyn is starting over. Leaving her husband and finding her new path is first and foremost on her mind. She is starting her own business, getting her kids settled and doesn't have time for men. Then Lachlan Daly walks into her life. There is something about this man that intrigues her. Good looking, successful and unworthy, Lachlan has no intention of getting involved with her. Until he does. And now Leona Luxx has me completely invested in this couple. I am hooked. Maisyn is independent and I love her intentions. While slightly standoffish, I love the push pull between both Lach and Maisyn. Lachlan is in denial and it's so refreshing as we watch him battle his feelings. And just when I think life is going to be amazing, Luxx throws the most incredible curve ball! It's surprising and a cliffhanger, so I hope the next audiobook is going to come out soon! I need to know where this is going!

Casting is so important in audio, and it's perfect! Kelli Lindsay is Maisyn and she brings out all the emotions she has. As she starts over, there is a variety of feelings, and then we add in Lach, and Lindsay grabs them all and lays them out for us. Jarman Day is fantastic! I love his voice as he struggles with his feelings. He truly brings out Lach's heart. And his Scottish accent is amazing! They are both new to me, and it's a pleasure to listen to them.

Ummm, what did I just listen to?😳

Ok, don't panic. This was a 4 🌟 read for me. Even though author and narrators were new to me. Even though it ends in a cliffhanger. (Don't worry, Book 2 is out.) I won't give spoilers but Leaona Luxx did a good job of keeping engaged throughout most of the book. Just when you think that you know your main characters, here comes the monkey with the wrench. I like that. Looking forward to book 2.
