Publisher's summary

The average person has 70,000 thoughts every day, and many of those thoughts trigger a corresponding emotion. No wonder so many of us often feel like we're controlled by our emotions. Our lives would be much improved if we controlled them.

In Living Beyond Your Feelings, Joyce Meyer examines the gamut of feelings that human beings experience. She discusses the way that the brain processes and stores memories and thoughts, and then - emotion by emotion - she explains how we can manage our reactions to those emotions. By doing that, she gives the listerner a toolbox for managing the way we react to the onslaught of feelings that can wreak havoc on our lives.

In this audiobook, Meyer blends the wisdom of the Bible with the latest psychological research and discusses:

  • The four personality types and their influence on one's outlook
  • The impact of stress on physical and emotional health
  • The power of memories
  • The influence of words on emotions
  • Anger and resentment
  • Sadness, loss, and grief
  • Fear
  • Guilt and regret
  • The power of replacing reactions with "pro-actions"
  • The benefits of happiness

Your Walk

Narrator was a little lifeless and monotone but God came through loud and clear. This book I believe is essential to listen to, to help you in your walk with God.

Needed a lift and release on emotional baggage.

This book was great! I could feel depression sinking in and my situations around me overriding my emotions. I was being darkened with negitivity everyday and needed to be reminded where to find my light switch. Definitely a book for anyone that is beginning to lose joy and hope in the world around them.

Helpful and encouraging advice.

Some of it I may have never figured out if it wasn't clearly explained here. For instance, I do have a tendency to be negative about others especially if it is honest. When you speak well of others you bless them, when you speak poorly of them you curse them. This has helped me become more conscious of showing more blessing than cursing. This has helped save me from future unnecessary hurts of others. It is not a call to be dishonest but to show hard honesty with love and tact and with blessing. Jesus heals and is a wonderful counselor and will help change your heart and mind. He can provide strength, love, grace, understanding and forgiveness in grief and pain and misunderstanding. In many ways this audiobook helps you become a more respectful person. Anyone can benefit from it even if you are not into the spiritual parts of the book.

Good information. Narration is grating.

Narrator's voice is hard to listen to. The message is good. It would have been better to have someone who sounded more like Joyce.

Great Book

What made the experience of listening to Living Beyond Your Feelings the most enjoyable?

I like the way the narrator speaks with feeling that the writer is trying to convey.

Who was your favorite character and why?

N/A

What does Sandra McCollom bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Expresses feeling well

What’s an idea from the book that you will remember?

Your emotions don't get to vote

Any additional comments?

Sometimes Joyce goes on and on and on about the same thing and it gets a little boring because you get the point the first time she said it, but I think it's just because she wants you to get the idea drilled into your head and not forget it.
