About this listen

When billionaire Marsh's octogenarian grandmother summons him home for an urgent family dinner, he dreads being force-fed every embarrassing truth about his family he's tried to forget. Never mind that Thanksgiving weekend was when he planned to propose to his girlfriend, Jada, who knows nothing of the nine-figure fortune Marsh has hidden her away for years.

But the money may be the least of his problems - there's a reason why he's never brought Jada to Connecticut. The Brewsters are the special brand of crazy reserved for the ultra-rich. Subjecting his woke Black girlfriend to his stuffy old-money family seems like the least romantic way to kick off his proposal weekend. And after his family's shenanigans, will Jada even say yes?

Loaded

That was a treat for the ears, I really enjoyed it. New to me author gave me a taste and now I want more.
The mysterious entrance of Maw Maw was fun.
Marsh sure kept a lot of secrets I don’t blame Jada for being a bit hurt by it all. It wasn’t like they were just dating it has been a while.
The ending makes me want more!
Fantastic narration both voice fit the characters perfectly.

Cute, quick love story!!

Tim and Nicole do a great job narrating the story and bringing the characters to life. Jada is strong, confident with an honest sophistication and definitely has no problem holding her own. Marsh despite being from old money, is down to earth and relatable. Together, they are great and I was drawn into their story. But Mama, the family matriarch stole the show for me. She is real and simply hilarious!! Would love to see more of these characters.

3.5 ⭐️s - short and sweet

I received to an advanced review copy of the audiobook narrated by Tim Paige and Nicole Lewis, who were both excellent. Paige is a favorite and gave his usual best. Lewis was new to me, and she was just lovely; I can’t wait to hear more from her.

This was an enjoyable TG holiday novella; the central couple is well-matched and I enjoyed them as individuals. If anything, I wish there was more of this book so that there was time to see each more fully fleshed out; the same goes for some of the secondary characters, like Marsh’s parents. It’s the curse of the novella that, though they’re quick and low angst, there’s little room for character development. Still, the writing was very well done and made me interested in seeking more books by Blades because I really like her style.

Short,Sweet & Entertaining

This was a short and definitely Loaded holiday romance! First time listening to Kilby Blades and this was a nice treat. I enjoyed the dual POV of Marsh and Jada and sorta wished it was full story about their romance. Marsh takes Jada to meet his family but he hasn’t told her about he comes from one of the wealthiest families in Connecticut. The family dinner is intense, but Jada can hold her own and surprisingly wins the respect and approval of the matriarch of Brewster family. This was a short, funny, and sweet romance with a few twists & turns thrown in. The ending gives hints to a spin off story, so hope to read more about that. The narration was great! It was my first time listening to Nicole Lewis and she was great as Jada, bringing out the sass and charm. Tim Paige’s performance as Marsh was perfect. They wonderful to listen to!

Grandma, a VC and a lawyer come to Thanksgiving

This novella was filled with wise-cracks, egg nog, racism, and classism. All topics that are prevelant in our society today. But, the humorous dialogue made the story light and offers a triumphant end. Kilby Blades sense of humor and sharp dialogue show her command of the comedic timing and tackling hard topics. If you want non-stop laughs and HEA with your turkey, buy this novella.

Fun and quirky

Tim Paige and Nicole Lewis are new narrators to me and as Kilby Blades is also new to me this was a listen I was excited for. Let me say a wonderful job was done by the author and the narrators and I will certainly be checking out other works by them all.
Loaded is book 4 in the Gilded Love Series but it can certainly be read and enjoyed as a stand-alone. If you are looking for a fun, entertaining listen look no further than this introduction to a world of crazy, quirky characters.
Marsh is taking his girlfriend Jada home to finally meet the family, its the holiday season and after years of dating he can’t avoid the family and the girlfriend meeting any longer. From the moment they arrive at the family home it’s obvious why he has avoided this meeting and this is when the fun and games begin….
A short story full of quirky, charismatic characters who will make you smile and make you giggle, they can be inappropriate but they are also characters you want more from. Looking forward to more from this talented author.

Entertaining

I love discovering new authors such as Kilby Blades and though my first it will not be my last. This was a well written story that ticked a number of boxes for me. I was invested in the story from the first to the last chapter.
Narrated by Tim Paige and Nicole Lewis both of whom are new to me, I found them easy to listen to. They brought the characters to life for me and did justice to the story that Kilby Blades wove.
Although Loaded is book four in the Gilded series, I had no trouble following it. It may not be a particularly long book but there was plenty of entertainment within the pages. I enjoyed the characters of Marsh and Jada, although I admit there were so many secondary characters that I did get a little lost at times.
After being together for years Marsh is taking his girlfriend home to meet the family whole family. Of course the fact that he is actually a billionaire is something he “forgot” to tell her which led to some tension, however it was quickly resolved . It was amusing to watch the family dynamics play out across the Thanksgiving dinner table. The characters were engaging and I loved Marsh’s feisty grandmother, what a great character she is.
All in all a fun, witty story that I really enjoyed.

Thanksgiving family dinner

Marsh and Jada go to his family's Thanksgiving dinner and things don't go as planned for Marsh. First he hasn't told Jada that he's rich and he hasn't told his family about her either. But Jada manages to handle it all. This was a short story but I didn't feel that anything was left out. I enjoyed the story. The narration by Tim Paige and Nicole Lewis brought the story to life.

Fun, light and entertaining!

Filled with laugh out loud moment, colorful characters and some serious familial shenanigans, this was a cute, fast paced, easy-to-read (or in this case to-listen) story.

Tim Paige and Nicole Lewis did a great job of breathing life into these characters and narrating not only them, but the plethora of supporting characters, with straight faced grace.

4 stars and a snow flake
