Critic reviews

"Burns with the luminosity of faith in the invincible nature of human hope and dignity....Unforgettable." (Andre Brink)
"Enthralling....Mandela emulates the few great political leaders such as Lincoln and Gandhi, who go beyond mere consensus and move out ahead of their followers to break new ground." (Sunday Times)

my experience

loved it, but consider having storytellers who understand other languages better, for better pronounciationnofnthe different words in different languages, non the less i loved it!!

Honest and personal reflection of the great Nelson Mandela

While the title provides a deep and personal reflection of the struggle to freedom in South Africa by NM’s point of view, it lacks the context and greater picture of the challenges of the time and the results of the SA after the commencement of the struggle.

Incredible story, brilliantly delivered

What did you love best about Long Walk to Freedom?

The story is well known, but the intimate details may not be. Its an incredible book that I got through in only a couple of sittings. Listening to Danny Glover read it was a treat and his soft narration actually sounded like Mandela.

It's Madiba, what can I say?

The life and times of Madiba is always enthralling. No matter how many times you come across it. Its a story anybody who is living through or has lived through oppressive regimes must read. Plenty of personal sessions too.

Understandably Danny Glover struggles with African names and sentences in the book, but that has taken nothing away from the story.

Its a must, in print or audio

Great story, awkward narrator

The story was fantastic and thank you for abridging. As a South African it was a bit challenging listening to an American butcher South African words, phrases and names. But I highly recommend the audiobook nonetheless.

Loved it!

This is undoubtedly better than reading the book. Danny Glover did a great job reading this and the occasional background music was a beautiful touch. Nice to see (hear) that producers of audiobooks are thinking beyond straight readings. And of course, the bio itself is inspiring!!

Splendid story, poor performance

The amazing story of ANC and Nelson Mandela is truly one that inspires. Looking forward to now listening to Dare not Linger.

Danny Glover’s pronunciation of the South African names and places left much to be desired.
