Publisher's summary

In his best-selling book The Power of Zero, David McKnight laid out a step-by-step plan on how to get to the 0% tax bracket in retirement. Why is the 0% tax bracket so important? Because if tax rates double, as some experts predict, two times zero is still zero! He also showed how, in many cases, it's impossible to get to the 0% tax bracket without using a Life Insurance Retirement Plan (LIRP).

In this follow-up book, Look Before Your LIRP, he makes the case that, while a variety of LIRPs may help get you to the 0% tax bracket, not all will do so with the same efficiency or effectiveness. In fact, finding the right LIRP for your tax-free retirement plan can be just like finding the ideal spouse. Just as you likely had a list of qualities you were looking for in a life-long partner, you should have certain attributes and provisions in mind when looking for the ideal LIRP. Look Before Your LIRP spells out exactly what you'll need to build a successful LIRP relationship and reveals the one LIRP best suited to get you to the 0% tax bracket.

A much needed book

The complexities of the IUL have required clients to rely solely on their advisor to separate the wheat from the chaff. With this book, clients can now participate in that process.

Home-run & Jackpot

First to address people who leave reviews saying that this book is a sales pitch, I just wonder if they actually read the book. The author never actually mentions a specific product. As a matter of fact you have to do so much research to even find a product with the features that he mentions it's insane. Most resources on the subject would give you a lot of head knowledge and not much else. It's great to know that this is even possible but this book takes it to another level by telling you how and even what to avoid while using the "how". Great Book. This is a must read for anyone over the age of 50.

Good read

The author is very good at explaining why life insurance is and has been an amazing product for over 160 years. UL is not the best product for this because the cost of universal life (term with an added savings account) is much higher than pua’s. WL policies have everything the ul has including an indexed rider, 2 LTC riders, loans that bump the dividend higher to guarantee arbitrage, and the cost basis stays the same from the day it is placed. The corridor ratios will always be constant, so more important than how much FV and when is not as important as cost basis if you are keeping as close to that corridor as possible (when doing a side by side).

Great information for Power of Zero followers

This book really helped me understand the how of the Power of Zero in regard to life insurance. It's certainly not as easy as just putting lots of cash in a policy. There are many other moving parts that need to be addressed and this book shows you how.
