Publisher's summary

The dramatic conclusion to the series! A traditional Regency romance, drawing room rather than bedroom.

Lord Gilbert Marford is in disgrace. He joined the Hussars to stay out of trouble. Instead, he quarrelled with half his fellow officers, seduced the wives of three of them, got himself shot in a duel, and sustained an injury that might end his career. Now he’s being sent home like a naughty schoolboy, and he’s not happy about it. So when an opportunity arises to run away, he’s not about to let a little snow stop him.

Miss Genista Hamilton accepts her place as the youngest daughter of the family, staying at home to look after her father, and help with his work as a country physician. She knows she’ll never marry, and has never even thought of love. Until the day a young man with the face of an angel appears, unconscious, on her doorstep in the middle of a snowstorm. But how can the lowly daughter of a physician ever aspire to marry the son of a marquess? It can only lead to trouble....

Book 5 of the 5-book Sons of the Marquess series, each a complete story with a HEA, but read all of them to find out all the secrets of the Marford family!

Gil

This didn't have a happily ever after rather, it was a happy for now ending. The mmc had no worthy qualities and the story gave many hints of what his future would look like. Personally, not my definition of romance.

Also, if infidelity is upsetting to you, don't read this.

Lord Gilbert

I have read over 10 books by Mary Kingswood and I must say this last one in the series was probably one of my favorites!! I love the unusual premise that the author creates, and so many of the characters. I cannot say enough good things about Joanna Stephens Who is probably one of the best narrators that I have listened to and I have been using this App for at least 10 years!

What happens next?

I so enjoyed this series that I wanted it to go on so that I know what happens as they live the rest of their lives.

Another decent story

This series was pleasant and clean. Jalista was sometimes annoying with her continually deferring to her father and Gil and lowering her head. Some creative variety would have helped here to stop the repetition of the head-lowering tedium. Maybe sometimes she could look away. Maybe she could have a facial expression. Whatever. Otherwise, it was nice to have the larger mystery solved in this one, and I will continue to buy this author's work.

Weak women!

I have listened to nearly all of Mary Kingswood’s titles and I am just at my breaking point I suppose. The previous book was so maddening, I have never disliked a character more than the female lead. And now this one! I hate how badly these characters are permitted to treat each other and then are so easily forgiven. Gil should have been made to work for her affections after the horrible things he’s said and done to his poor wife and yet she just cries and forgives him immediately. Even going as far as apologizing for imagined things herself! Weak women! Let these men show you absolutely no respect and dote on them regardless.
