About this listen
Loretta Lynn is a living legend. From walking around barefoot in clothing repurposed from flour sacks in rural Kentucky to becoming an icon with more awards than any other woman in country music, many may wonder just how Loretta Lynn paved this path for herself. While hard work, natural talent, and having certain people in her life surely contributed to her success, her story is so unique it seems as if it was written by fate.
A mother of six and now a grandmother to dozens, Lynn never lost sight of her values or what drove her. She had a calling to relay what was real and a desire to create a secure life for her family. She believes in horoscopes and is proudly an Aries; with her ambition and gifts, she could not be stopped. While Lynn is hesitant to call herself a feminist, her bravery and perseverance opened doors for many more women in country music. She also challenged stereotypes associated with the genre through living her beliefs about tolerance, honesty, and fairness.
This biography will explore the meaning and process behind some of her music and how the people and circumstances that shaped her led to her extensive list of awards and accolades. It will also seek to provide insight into how her world view, natural gifts, and personality traits drove her successes.

For the first time ever, Loretta tells their story: a celebration of their music and their relationship up until Patsy's tragic and untimely death. Full of laughter and tears, this eye-opening, heartwarming memoir paints a picture of two stubborn, spirited country gals who'd be damned if they'd let men or convention tell them how to be. Reissued for the 40th anniversary of the Oscar-winning, Sissy Spacek-starring film of the same name, Coal Miner's Daughter recounts Loretta Lynn's astonishing journey to become one of the original queens of country music. Loretta grew up dirt poor in the mountains of Kentucky, she was married at 13 years old, and became a mother soon after. Soon, she began penning songs and singing in front of honky-tonk audiences and eventually made her way to Nashville, securing her place in country music history.

Story
Dolly Parton is best known for her musical prowess, but there is so much more to her character than people realize. Nowadays, she is the epitome of old Hollywood glamor. She is pretty well known for getting a lot of cosmetic surgery over the years in order to keep up the gaudy, glamorous image we’ve come to know and love. Even through all this she’s still modest. What people may not realize is that her early life was anything but glamorous.

"Unvarnished. Funny. Leaving no stone unturned"...So say the publishers about this audiobook I've written. What I say is that this is the story of my life, told as clear as a Texas sky and in the same rhythm that I lived it. It's a story of restlessness and the purity of the moment and living right. Of my childhood in Abbott, Texas, to the Pacific Northwest, from Nashville to Hawaii, and all the way back again. Of selling vacuum cleaners and encyclopedias while hosting radio shows and writing song after song, hoping to strike gold.

Behind the curtain of her happy on-screen persona, Valerie Bertinelli’s life has been no easy ride, especially when it comes to her own self-image and self-worth. She waged a war against herself for years, learning to equate her value to her appearance as a child star on One Day at a Time and punishing herself in order to fit into the unachievable Hollywood mold. She struggled to make her marriage to Eddie Van Halen—the true love of her life—work, despite all the rifts the rock-star lifestyle created between them.
