Publisher's summary

The infamous Reverend Curtis Black's sordid past is no secret, as his wife, Charlotte, is well aware. But when Curtis' long-time mistress and mother of his illegitimate two-year-old dies, he and Charlotte have no choice but to raise Curtina together.

While the living, breathing reminder of her husband's infidelity infuriates Charlotte, Curtis couldn't be happier to finally have his whole family together. Despite her best efforts to keep her feelings hidden, Charlotte resents Curtina, taking her emotions out on the young girl. When confronted about her behavior, Charlotte starts spending time away from home, all the while getting closer to her ex-boyfriend. Curtis appears to devote himself to his parish and the new church they're building, but is he really focusing his attention on the female parishioners trying to lure him into bed?

Suddenly Curtis and Charlotte find themselves slipping into dangerous territory, and not even Curtis' seven-figure salary can prevent what is about to happen.

Great book

Great book. Was not a fan about the narrator. Wish the book covered Aaron character. It is like he just disappeared one Marisa passed away. I just don't see a character obsessed with Charlotte and seeing his daughter just disappear from the storyline.

A hard head makes a soft..

My favorite character, Charlotte, had my mind spinning throughout the book. I can only hope that she learns her lesson. As far as Paula reading the book, it was hard to get really comfortable listening. The accent for Agnes was awful. The pronunciation of Anise was dreadful. I can only hope that this is the only book in the series where she is the “reader”…

Excellent Series

Kimberla does it again. I have been listening to all of the Reverend Curtis Black series in order. I truly enjoy the plot and story line and I am hooked. Kimberla is an amazing writer and knows how to captivate her readers.

Not surprised

This book was well written but I wasn't surprised with the outcome. I became frustrated with Charlotte behavior towards the minor child & trying to remove herself from her indiscretion which created her baby girl. I enjoyed the book.

An Enjoyable Read

It only taken me three days to get through this audible book. I was so wrapped in this story. I will be downloading the next book in this series.

Where do I...

First, I am so grateful for getting my dose of skank church drama back that this series offers me every time I read a story—with the exception of the two previous stories about Alicia. I must say this one was almost too much to bare at the beginning concerning the mistreatment of Curtina by Charlotte, let me just say “this was not ok!” I mean it was hard to listen to, babies are NEVER the problem! I know this is a fictional story (and I pray that it is) because it’s a sad day for the body of Christ if this stuff is taking place for real—pastor’s wife having one night stands and having multiple partners... geesh! Make sure you get tested Charlotte! My only issue with this book was the narrator... it was really annoying how she managed to make a high school boy and several deacons and ministers sound like straight hood rat gangsters... unbelievably annoying! Don’t let her read your stories again...ijs.
